Should you take cash with you to an all-inclusive resort?

All-inclusive resorts offer a range of amenities as part of the package price. This typically means that you won't need cash for meals, drinks or included activities during your stay. However, there are certain situations in which having some cash on you could be useful.

When cash comes in handy

Although most of your expenses won't require cash, it might be useful in a few situations.

• Tips: Although tips are often included, you may wish to give extra for exceptional service. It's best to do this in the local currency.
• Local markets and shops: If you're planning on venturing outside the resort to buy souvenirs or try local dishes, you may need cash.
• Transport: Cash is often necessary for taxis, buses and other local transport, especially in areas that are less popular with tourists.
