We paid over £5500 for 7 days for a family of 6, including our 1-year-old baby, for what is advertised as a 5-star family resort. Sadly, we would rate it closer to 3-star.
Our son’s mattress was covered in faeces and dirt and, despite reporting it 3 times, it wasn’t changed until day 3. There was also a strong sewage smell around the resort.
The food was mostly stale, tasteless and inedible, although the HV Diner was fantastic — we had a lovely rib-eye steak and the staff were brilliant. Restaurant and bar staff generally were also very friendly.
There are serious safety concerns. Our apartment door wouldn’t lock on the first night, which was extremely worrying with two autistic children who have limited awareness of danger. There was also an uncovered large hole next to the pool for the final 7 days.
The pool steps aren’t clearly marked and the tiled floor around the pools is extremely slippery. People were literally going flying, with no wet-floor signs or warnings anywhere. Our son also slipped and hurt himself.
The amphitheatre is not accessible for wheelchairs or anyone unsteady on their feet, with extremely steep steps and no ramps. It also feels completely unsuitable and unsafe for young children and babies. We had to sit at the top with our son because of his difficulties with balance. There are also damaged glass panels being used as handrails and cracked glass around the amphitheatre, which is extremely concerning.
The snack bar closes at 5pm and pools at 6pm, leaving nowhere for food after the restaurant closes at 9:30pm.
On the positive side, the water park and beach are fantastic, the hotel itself is beautiful, and the children’s activity staff were lovely.
The village was actually one of the highlights. The shop owners were incredibly kind, welcoming and family-oriented, even giving our children gifts. We visited several times and cannot fault them.
This hotel has so much potential, but the cleanliness, food, accessibility and especially the safety issues seriously let it down. For a 5-star family resort, we expected much more.
This review is on behalf of my daughter who arrived back 24th May.
Her family of four had a lovely time here, although they had a few issues, most of which I suspect wouldn't apply to you.
They booked a limited sea view with TUI and by limited it was scarcely visible. Even the hotel laughed
Certainly not worth the extra money and she will be 'discussing' this with the store.
The staff are lovely, the pool guards strict even little ones can't jump in, perhaps that's a good thing. She didn't think any of them staff were actually Greek which she thought would have been nice.
Then there's always the family from hell with feral bin lids. Those currently staying at the hotel will know who they are. The hotel has a lot of wedding parties which will mean large groups, some will obviously be more considerate than others.
The pool is freezing, her daughter allegedly came out blue. The beach and sea being a more attractive option.
Some of the younger children shouldn't be allowed near the buffet for hygiene reasons but it's not their fault.
The TUI reps were very pleasant but totally ineffective.
However regardless of the negatives, the room was excellent, the hotel was spotless and the food especially the a la cartes was very good.
I’ve just returned from a wonderful 10-day stay at Atlantica Mikri Poli with my son.
The hotel is set in a beautiful location, and the staff were always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. A special thank you to the main bar team, who greeted us with a smile every day. And an extra thank you to Ivan, who made the best Aperol Spritz cocktails! 🍹💙
The food was excellent, with a great variety every day, especially the fresh fruit and delicious desserts. The gyros van was absolutely amazing – without a doubt the best gyros I’ve ever tasted!
Room service was okay, although I expected a little more attention to detail when it came to cleanliness. I’m giving the hotel 4 stars because there were a couple of things I didn’t expect from a 5-star all-inclusive resort. Firstly, guests are required to pay a €20 deposit to borrow an iron, which I’ve never experienced before. Secondly, my son’s sofa bed was of very poor quality and broke during our stay. It was only replaced towards the end of the holiday with a basic single foldable bed, which was disappointing considering the price we paid.
I also felt there could have been more evening entertainment for adults.
Overall, we had a lovely holiday, enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, great food, and the kindness of the staff. With a few improvements, this hotel could offer an even better experience.
I wish there was a 4.5star option.
The hotel was amazing. Most of the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. A few were a bit frosty and the lifeguards were tyrants. Not being able to jump into pools at a family resort is wild.
The rooms were spotless and the facilities in the rooms were amazing. Balcony view was lovely.
The food, for an all inclusive hotel, was great. Loads of options and great choice for kids. All very tasty and the snack bars throughout the day were all class. Loved the gyros van.
All the pools were great, apart from the no jumping in rule and the height rule on the slides (1.2m). The kids club and entertainment was top notch and our kids, 5 and 7, absolutely loved it.
My one complaint which would warrant losing half a star is that the indoor games for kids (pool, air hockey etc) required paying a euro or two. For an all inclusive I think this is pretty poor and is something that would for me set apart a 4 star and 5 star hotel.
All in all would highly recommend and would definitely go again.
Lovely hotel, very clean and rooms well presented and modern. Hotel staff were always friendly and the employees who drive the buggy’s around were very friendly and helpful, and very useful being able to taken to our room at the top of the hill as having two young children proved difficult to get them up and down the hill!
Pools were lovely and clean, very child friendly. Water park isn’t anything special but still clean and good for kids. Sunbeds fill up quite easy, but eventually they do become available.
The beach again, wasn’t anything special but it was still a nice beach, very rocky so definitely pack aqua shoes for the kids.
Entertainment team were great, energetic.
Food was lovely in the Italian restaurant and the buffet food was nice too. Only thing I would say is the staff swarm around your table trying to take the plates off you when you are still eating, which was rather annoying.
Kardamena is about 15 mins walk, nice shops but you have to pay €15 for a sunbed at the beach there which is a bit ridiculous, when you get them for free at the beach outside the hotel. Not a lot going on in Kardamena but still a place to visit.
Only losing one star as when we arrived at check in, there was only one member of staff on the desk and there was quite a few families to check in, so we were at reception for probably a good hour trying to check in. Also the staff members in the shops there aren’t very child friendly. Rude old woman, blonde frizzy hair, made us pay for a tube of smarties that our child “opened”. (She didn’t even remotely open it). And when questioned she became argumentative.
Overall we had a really lovely stay and would definitely recommend.
