At first, everything looks impressive: the building itself, the views, the gym, the spa area and the buffet. However, things start to go downhill as soon as you need help from the staff, and unfortunately, you will need them quite often.
The staff are clearly not properly trained, especially the bar staff. Many of them do not seem professional and look as if they are just waiting for their shift to finish. Of course, this does not apply to everyone. There were some excellent staff members who tried to help, but around 90% of the bar staff seemed rude, lazy, or both.
There also seems to be a lack of proper management, and even getting answers to simple questions can be difficult. For example, we spent three days trying to find out which drinks were included in the all-inclusive package.
It is also important to mention that several facilities were not working as they should. The pool bar was closed, and we were told it would open the next day. In the end, we stayed for five days and it never opened. The beach bar was also closed, meaning we had to go inside every time we wanted something to eat or drink.
There were also issues with the lift (the door would not open on the second floor) and the air conditioning, although this was fixed quickly.
The food was decent, but a bit oily.
Overall, the hotel has everything it needs to be a great five-star resort, but it is still a long way from that standard. I would recommend looking at similar hotels in the area, as you will probably find a better experience for the same price.
Grand Hotel Sveti Vlas is absolutely superb. The rooms, the amenities, the food — everything was wonderful. BUT the cherry on top was how good the service was! Two days after we departed, I discovered that I had forgotten my dress in the room. The customer service was absolutely phenomenal—kind, understanding and courteous people that managed to solve my problem within hours. The very next day, I had my beloved dress back. Thank you to the staff—you are all gems!
We have been visiting this hotel for six years and we truly love it. It remains one of our favorite places because it offers everything you could possibly need in one resort – excellent facilities, a fantastic gym, a wonderful spa, and plenty of space around the pools with enough sun loungers for everyone.
Overall, our experience has always been outstanding. The only things that disappoint us slightly are a few small details that seem to be overlooked year after year. For example, a broken clothes drying rack in such a luxury hotel feels out of place. Also, the shower water pressure in the top-floor rooms has not been great for several years. Finally, some of the staff members occasionally seem a bit dissatisfied or unmotivated.
These are relatively minor issues compared to everything the hotel does so well, but after visiting for six consecutive years, they are things we have noticed. Despite this, we absolutely love the hotel.
From the moment we arrived, the hotel gave a very positive first impression. The architecture, the views, the gym, the spa facilities, and the overall presentation of the resort were all very appealing. It is clear that the hotel has invested in creating a high-quality experience and has many of the elements needed for a memorable stay.
However, during our five-night stay with friends (three couples), we noticed several issues that affected our experience. One of the main concerns was the bar service. Many members of the bar staff did not seem properly trained or familiar with the details of the all-inclusive package. While there were some excellent employees who were friendly and genuinely tried to help, unfortunately, a large percentage of the bar staff appeared unprofessional, uninterested, or not very welcoming.
There also seemed to be a lack of clear management, as even getting answers to simple questions was sometimes difficult. For example, we spent three days trying to confirm which drinks were included in our all-inclusive package.
Another disappointment was that some of the facilities advertised were not available during our stay. We booked a one-week holiday and chose this hotel specifically because of what was offered in the all-inclusive package. However, the pool and beach bar were closed. We were told the pool bar would reopen the following day, but after five days it still had not opened. The beach bar was also unavailable, meaning we had to go back inside the hotel every time we wanted a drink or something to eat. This is not a major inconvenience by itself, but it was disappointing because we had paid for the comfort and experience of having those facilities available, especially during what for us was our only beach holiday of the year.
We also experienced some maintenance issues, including problems with the lift (the doors would not open properly on the second floor) and the air conditioning. The air conditioning issue was fixed quickly, which was appreciated.
The food was generally good, although some dishes were a little too oily for our taste.
Overall, the hotel has everything needed to be an excellent five-star resort, but there are important areas that need improvement, especially staff training, communication, and ensuring that advertised facilities are actually available. I would still recommend the hotel because of its location, facilities, and potential, but I hope these points are addressed in the future or that the information provided when booking is clearer.
I spent two nights at the hotel a week ago.
I was on business in Burgas and decides to give me some holiday feeling between sundown and sun-up. So I booked a sea-view and checked in after dark on TUE. As a fact I was tired by driving and tense business meeting so I just enjoed a shower and fresh bedline,
The motning compenstated my frugal night with seaview tha sharged me for the day with smell of the sea and seagulls' calls on the side. The staff was surprisigly polite and forthcoming so I had a fine breakfast too.
The evening was the last night before driving to SOf so I took my time enjoying extended dinner with a red wine to fit the meats and the season. Good restaurant, good cuisine and staffers ready to communicate and shoot a small breeze.
It the morning I visited the Spa and got full body massage. It was great - carried proffesionally and in details.
After relaxing in the the relax zone (it is superb) I said g'bay to the sea and the staffers and put a note in my planner: try the Grand Hotel in the summer time.
