⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an excellent stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with exceptional kindness, professionalism, and genuine hospitality by the entire team. The staff made us feel truly welcome from the very beginning. Our room has a magnificent view of the beach and the ocean, making our stay even more special. We were also delighted to find a thoughtful welcome card, a bottle of Madeira wine, and delicious chocolates waiting for us. These small but meaningful touches show the hotel’s dedication to making every guest’s experience memorable. The facilities were spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madeira. It was a wonderful experience, and we hope to return in the future. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Couldn’t Recommend It More! We absolutely loved our stay at Dom Pedro Madeira in Machico. It was a genuine 5-star experience from start to finish, and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madeira. This was our first family holiday together with my two brothers, and we stayed at the hotel for four days. I can honestly say the staff made the experience truly special. The care, kindness, and service they provide are outstanding, and everyone was so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We fell in love with Madeira—the beautiful scenery, the people, the hotel, and the area—but it was the staff at Dom Pedro who really made our holiday unforgettable. Thank you all so much for going above and beyond and making our first family holiday together such a memorable one. A very special mention to Marco Pereira—you are an icon and a legend! Thank you for your amazing welcome and for making us feel so welcome. (Give the man a raise). All reception, cleaning and breakfast staff were so lovely too. The location right by the sea and the view from the breakfast restaurant were stunning – that was honestly the only thing that really convinced us. What bothered us immensely, however, was the behavior of the waitresses, especially during dinner. The women there came across as arrogant, unfriendly, and not as warm and welcoming as you would expect from other hotels. No smiles, no friendliness – just strange and dismissive. On top of that, there was a clear injustice: It was an open buffet, where every guest can naturally sit wherever they want. I was there with my son, we arrived early and wanted to sit at a free table – no reservation sign, nothing. The waitress told us we weren't allowed to sit there and sent us away. Shortly after, another father came with his child – and the very same waitress personally invited him to sit at a table just like that. No reservation, no reason – she actively offered him that seat, while we were turned away. We both had one child with us, same situation, same buffet – but completely different treatment. I have never experienced anything like this. At an open buffet, you don't reserve tables – and if you do, at least put a sign on them. But here, they simply decided arbitrarily who was "worthy" and who wasn't. Because of this unfriendliness and injustice, I will never visit this hotel again. That is not how you treat your guests.
We‘ve chosen the Dom Pedro for one night due to its location near the Airport. Atmosphere is like from an ancient tourist era - welcome to the 70s/80s. 🙂This Place definitely needs a rebrush/renovation. Nevertheless it was clean, staff was kind. And the breakfast was really good: various choices of bread, fruits, vegetables, jams; no unnecessary packaging. I’d appreciate more regional products. No go: the Nescafé coffee machine. Hotel should be able to serve freshly made coffee specialties.
We liked the hotel and the boardwalk along the beach and the breakfast was great! The room was clean and comfortable. The only thing to note is that they don't turn on the air conditioning until summer so we had to leave the window open and could hear planes taking off, which wasn't too bad since it was mostly just the early flights. When we stayed it was already pretty hot so even with the window opened it was warmer than we liked.
