We had a truly wonderful stay at this beautiful four-star hotel. The rooms were exceptionally spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and very well maintained, creating a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere throughout our stay.
The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always happy to help, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
We also had the opportunity to enjoy both breakfast and dinner at the buffet, and we were genuinely impressed. The food was fresh, delicious, and prepared with high-quality ingredients, with plenty of variety to choose from.
It was an excellent experience from start to finish. We would definitely return and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, quality, and warm hospitality.
The hotel is located in a truly beautiful setting, and the grounds are very well maintained. The pools were always clean, and there were plenty of sunbeds available by the pool at any time.
Unfortunately, the rooms are outdated and are in urgent need of renovation.
Most of the staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. However, the employees in the small shop seemed uninterested and gave the impression that they did not enjoy their work.
The biggest disappointment was the food. The buffet offered only a limited selection, and the overall quality was poor. Dishes were rarely refilled, and we were surprised by the lack of authentic Greek cuisine. In addition, the cutlery should be replaced as soon as possible, as much of it had visible water stains and mineral deposits, which gave an unhygienic impression.
Another downside was that the sunbeds in the bay were only available for an additional €20 per day, which we found disappointing considering the hotel category.
Although we still had a lovely holiday thanks to the stunning location and the beautiful surroundings, we feel that a four-star rating is too generous in its current condition. The hotel has great potential, but the rooms, the food, and some aspects of the overall quality need significant improvement before we would consider returning.
A fantastic vacation from start to finish, beautiful sea views, beautiful fresh food available all day around. We had an all inclusive package holiday and loved every second of our stay. All the staff were here for us, welcoming and helpful, and Toto our head of entertainment was absolutely fab! 10/10 recommended
The location of Calypso Cretan Village is beautiful and the natural surroundings are definitely the strongest part of this hotel. Unfortunately, our actual experience during the stay was very disappointing.
The biggest problem was the air conditioning in our room. It leaked water three times during the night. We reported it to reception and were told that it had been fixed. Nevertheless, on our final night, at around 6:00 a.m., it started leaking again and the dripping water woke us up. We have photos and videos documenting this.
There were also several other service issues.
My girlfriend had ordered a birthday cake as a surprise for me. Unfortunately, a waiter loudly asked her in front of me when she wanted the cake and when they should bring it. Needless to say, the surprise was completely ruined.
During lunch and dinner, the beverage machines are closed, so guests have to ask the waiters for drinks. The service was often very slow. On several occasions, waiters were standing away from the tables talking to each other while guests were waiting for drinks.
Another issue is the beach. The hotel provides access to the beach, but we were not clearly informed that the sun loungers cost €10 per person. This additional cost should be clearly communicated to guests.
The hotel itself has a fantastic location, but good scenery cannot compensate for repeated problems with maintenance and service.
We have contacted the hotel management directly and formally reported the problems. We have also submitted complaints to the relevant tourist and consumer protection authorities in Greece.
For other guests: if you experience serious problems during your stay, don’t simply accept them and leave it at that. Document what happens, complain to the hotel in writing, and remember that tourists can also contact the relevant consumer protection and tourism authorities in Greece.
I hope the hotel takes these complaints seriously and improves the service and maintenance, because the location itself has enormous potential.
Lovely village type set up in this secluded cove. We were half board which was more than adequate.
Apartment was typically Cretan, basic but perfectly adequate. It had a stunning sea view.
A lot of the sunbeds were broken needing only slight repair but did not see anyone actively checking/maintaining the beds.
3 pools on offer. The main pool had a built in pirate ship which appealed to kids.
Onsite shop sold basic goods-again perfectly adequate if you are half board.
Lots of parking space-car is needed if you like to get out and about.
We walked via the well trodden cliff top route to Damnoni Beach, lovely walk but need shoes sturdier than flip-flops (lots of stones/uneven ground) but do-able for the less fit.
Food was ok for half board and replenished often. Not sure if going all inclusive would have been worth it. The drinks seemed minimal and did not see any named brands I recognised.
I think the 4 stars I have awarded is fair. This was an enjoyable holiday set in a beautiful cove but it does require some updating and upkeep. That said would definitely go again!
