⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ (2/5)
I have stayed at many 5-star resorts, but unfortunately Annabelle Beach Resort was one of the biggest disappointments.
The biggest issue is the lack of sunbeds. Between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, it is almost impossible to find a free sunbed at either the pools or the beach unless you reserve one very early in the morning.
The food is below the standard expected from a 5-star hotel. The selection is limited, repetitive, and nothing really stands out. The all-inclusive drinks are also disappointing, and having to pay extra for most cocktails is not what I expect from a resort advertised as 5 stars.
Another major problem is the pool bar, where there is often only one staff member serving everyone. This results in long queues and unnecessary waiting times just to get a drink.
The staff are friendly, and the gardens are well maintained, with a nice beachfront location. However, these positives are not enough to make up for the overall experience.
In my opinion, this hotel is closer to a 3.5–4 star resort than a true 5-star property. Unfortunately, I would not return and cannot recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine 5-star all-inclusive holiday.
The hotel is not new, but it is well-maintained, with daily room cleaning and fresh towels, a lovely, well-kept territory, and convenient swimming pools with plenty of space for everyone. I would also like to mention that you won’t find any complaints about the hotel in my review, because personally, I always travel for the nature and the sea, and I always find what I’m looking for!))
So, the staff are all friendly and ready to help!
I would especially like to mention the reception team: Anrovis, Efi, Maria, Petros and Simone! Guys, you are the best🤌🏼
From early check-in to late check-out! Thanks to them, we were able to fully rest after our journey instead of wandering around the hotel grounds or the surrounding area. If a room is available, they are always happy to accommodate. Since we traveled from Ukraine, the journey was long and stressful, so being helped right away upon asking was deeply appreciated🥹
The beach and the sea are fantastic. It was stormy for the first few days, but then the weather cleared up, and we got to enjoy the sea near the hotel. If you prefer calmer waters, consider options in bays or explore on your own—there is a secluded spot within walking distance of the hotel if you walk to the right along the coast past the cape👌🏼
Crete offers different types of sea in its various bays and parts of the island. We visited Balos Beach and loved it: the shipwreck, shallow waters, and, of course, the pink sand beach—the water is incredible!
This was the most horrible holiday of my life. The whole 10 days of our holiday the beach was closed because it was so windy I couldn't swim and the beach is full of slippy rocks you can't swim. The swimming pool is full everyone wakes up fights over towels and run to the sunbeds to reserve them all, absolutely no space, there is never any towels left and they're not washed well. the food is horrible they just have week old fish and fruit from tins, i ate spaghetti for 10 days and there was bugs crawling in the bread i think the food was the worst part of this holiday, the juice cups were tiny i dont know if they were trying to save money on juice. The rooms are dirty. No entertainment just walking around. They just gave you one bottle of water on arrival and if you wanted more water is was 4 euros, they didn't change the bed sheets and the amount of stairs you have to go up just to get to your room exhausting. The staff aren't really nice. The only channels they have on the TV in the room is just news channels there is nothing but news to watch and rooms don't make sense very very dirty shower I had to wear the slippers in the shower because the floor is brown and where the water runs it's white, tap water is dirty and towels are brown with dirt. I do not recommend this holiday I has to spent 600 euros in town to eat real food. It is so busy can't even get a sun bed. I can't belive this holiday is 5 stars
A very disappointing experience for a 5-star hotel.
The check-in was rushed, with almost no information about the restaurants, opening hours or hotel facilities. We were simply given the keys and left to figure things out ourselves. We were also asked to pay the tourist tax immediately, while still carrying our luggage and before even having time to settle in.
Beach towels were already unavailable at 3 p.m. on our first day, and reception showed very little willingness to help find a solution.
The beach loungers and umbrellas are rusty and damaged, while those around the pools are insufficient and also in poor condition. By 8:30 a.m., most loungers were already “reserved” despite nobody using them. The lifeguard at the upper pool spent a lot of time on his phone and seemed more interested in policing children than properly monitoring the pool.
The room was nothing like the photos: old and damaged furniture, broken lights, garbage smell on the terrace and a sewage smell in the bathroom. Housekeeping was very disappointing — the floor was never swept during our stay, sand remained on the floor from the second day, the bathroom sink was rarely cleaned, and the toilet was not properly cleaned throughout our stay.
The restaurants offer plenty of choice, but the food is repetitive, with almost the same dishes every day and little variety. The juices are heavily diluted with water, and the tables are often sticky and poorly cleaned. The restaurant service did improve during our stay, with the waiters becoming friendlier and more welcoming. The restaurant manager was always pleasant, helpful and very responsive.
Some positives: the bartender at the upper pool was extremely friendly and professional. The mini-market is also very convenient, and the staff there were genuinely warm and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautiful and has a calm atmosphere, which allowed us to relax despite the issues.
Overall, we simply don’t feel this hotel deserves 5 stars. We would rate it a maximum of 3 stars. With better maintenance, housekeeping, service and a more welcoming approach, it could be a much better experience.
We stayed at this hotel as a family, and we only left our room for about an hour to quickly have dinner. We locked the door before leaving, but when we returned, €700 had been stolen from our room.
When we reported the incident to the hotel staff, nobody seemed to know anything. There were no security cameras, and the staff claimed that nothing like this had ever happened before.
However, while staying at the hotel, I met another woman who told me that the exact same thing had happened to her and that she had also reported it to the staff. This makes me question the honesty of the hotel’s employees and their claims that this had never happened before.
It is absolutely unacceptable to have money stolen from a locked hotel room, especially when staying with your family and trusting the hotel to provide a safe environment. The lack of security, the lack of surveillance, and the staff’s response made the entire experience extremely disappointing.
Be careful with your valuables if you decide to stay here.
