I’ve stayed in many luxury hotels over the years, and unfortunately Cornelia Diamond didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
The bedroom and bathroom were lovely and I couldn’t fault them. The hotel itself is very large, with plenty of sunbeds available and no issues getting towels. However, I was surprised that the sunbeds had no cushions and weren’t particularly comfortable. The outdoor chairs around the resort also lacked cushions during the day, which seemed disappointing for a hotel in this price range.
The reception staff weren’t the friendliest, although most of the staff elsewhere in the resort were excellent. They were always attentive when taking drink orders and clearing plates away.
My only real service issue was at the Seabird Bar. One evening I sat for around 10 minutes without anyone coming to take my order, so I eventually went to the bar myself. Shortly afterwards, a group who had just arrived were served immediately. When I mentioned this, it left me feeling overlooked.
The buffet restaurant was decent, with an excellent salad and dessert selection, but after a few days the food became repetitive.
I also tried the seafood à la carte restaurant. Considering there is an extra charge, I expected much more. The food was average, nothing particularly special, and much of it could easily have been served in the buffet. I was also disappointed that, despite paying extra, I was still offered the same poor house wine.
The spirits and cocktails were very good, but the wine selection throughout the hotel was disappointing. As someone who enjoys wine, I expected a better choice and higher quality wines from a hotel of this standard.
The daytime entertainment was very underwhelming. There was little effort to engage guests, nobody seemed to be informing people about activities, and the entertainment team lacked energy and personality. I would have expected activities such as water polo, pool games and more interaction throughout the day.
On the positive side, the evening shows were excellent and one of the highlights of the holiday. The live bands and music were enjoyable too, although not particularly memorable.
Overall, Cornelia Diamond has some strong points, including the rooms, facilities, evening shows and hard-working staff. However, for me it lacked atmosphere and personality, and didn’t offer the level of comfort, dining experience and entertainment I would expect from a luxury resort at this price point.
We had a great stay here in September. Everything lovely bar catering for allergies.
The pool was lovely, and there was plenty of sunbeds with no issues finding them. It was always pretty quiet in the pool near the waterfalls.
We were upgraded for free to the golf suite room which was very nice, and had a living room. There was lots of packs of free soaps, bath foams, cotton buds, lotions available in the room.
The food was delicious and there was lots of variety. However it was not ideal for allergies, as the 60% of the food was allergen labelled (not all of it, or any of the desserts), but some of the allergen labelling was incorrect. For instance, breaded fish and churros were not marked as having gluten.
There was an allergen section of the restaurant, however this was poor, as it was a generic allergen table which covered lactose/vegan/gluten etc, but nothing was actually labelled, so I had no way of knowing what each item was free from. It was also extremely limited.
I did email the hotel twice before my stay asking about how they cater to allergies, and tried the live chat, but received no response.
Furthermore, the fajitas were marked as not having any allergens, but when I asked the chef, he said it included soy sauce, which contains gluten, and is not safe for coeliacs. I was given an allergen card on request by guest services which helped a little, but is not ideal.
The bar staff were great, and the cocktails were amazing. And so was the evening entertainment.
Overall, this hotel was very beautiful and we had a great time.
For anyone considering Cornelia Diamond, I really want to share my personal experience.
If you have children, I would 100% recommend choosing this hotel. If you don’t have children and you’re looking for peace, comfort, and a relaxing holiday, I would still recommend it. If great food, variety, a warm atmosphere, and genuinely friendly service are important to you, definitely choose Cornelia. And if cleanliness and the quality of the rooms matter to you, again, I highly recommend it.
I live in Antalya and have stayed at around ten different hotels in the region, so I have quite a few experiences to compare. Without hesitation, Cornelia Diamond has been one of my very best hotel experiences.
I had already written a review after our stay, but I actually took the time to come back and write again for a reason. After Cornelia, I chose another hotel for our next holiday, and I regretted that decision so much. It made me realize even more how special Cornelia is and how much attention they give to the little details that can completely change your holiday experience.
We will definitely return to Cornelia Diamond. Even my children still talk about it and say how much they miss the hotel and the Kids Club. ❤️
Sometimes you don’t fully realize how good a hotel is until you stay somewhere else afterward. That is exactly what happened to us with Cornelia Diamond
The hotel is generally fine if dated. The restaurant area is particularly old and needs some renovation. However, the food is good and you can always find something to eat. We also tried the spa which we liked. Most of the waiters barely speak any English and do not respond to basic conversation. We had a particularly awful experience with the hotel doctor (if he can be called a doctor) who prescribed very invasive procedures to our 6 months old daughter without even looking at her. His lack of professionalism and capacity to explain even basic things is beyond anything I have ever witnessed. His only concern seems to be to rest in the shade and smoke. When we had an issue, the guest relations team was not helpful.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of options at every meal. The daytime activities and evening shows made our holiday very enjoyable.
We would especially like to thank the Guest Relations team for their kindness and professionalism. They were always helpful and made us feel truly valued. The hotel’s cleanliness, overall service quality, and the friendly attitude of the staff were also excellent.
Our only negative experience was in the bowling area. The dark-haired employee with curly hair working there came across as indifferent and unwilling to help. We also heard Turkish swear words, apparently because they assumed we did not understand Turkish. This was not in line with the high standard of service we experienced throughout the rest of the hotel.
Other than that, we had a wonderful holiday and created many great memories. We would definitely consider coming back.
