So, I stayed last year in this resort. Here's all I know: I'm not gonna lie, my stay here was quite disappointing, but simply because of the outdated rooms. The couch was very uncomfortable to sleep in, and we weren't provided with sheets so that we could atleast make the sofa at any point during our stay. The rooms were very hot sometimes, making sleep feel like hell. Well, now getting into the good stuff. The bars served some good cocktails and food, what you'd expect of a all inclusive experience. The buffet was amazing, the chefs that grilled the meat were genuinely so sweet!! I remember liking most the pastas. The beach is really good, the water had good temperature and since it was not overcrowded I enjoyed it a lot more. The night animation was SOOO GOOD! I remember loving the celebrity show or something like that, I know there was Micheal Jackson there.
Stayed here in July. Don't let these negatives put you off, The rooms were awful, no air conditioning - it was terrible so hot and humid. The furniture was extremely dated and I really enjoyed sleeping on a sofa bed haha. A positive - despite the humid, scorching weather there was a tropical storm which meant debris and furniture outside fell EVERYWHERE which the team rapidly cleaned up. If you have been you know they have their little theme song - believe it or not they sang it over the pool as the storm continued, a very kind and dedicated team. The entertainment was questionable. It was so easy to access the beach, crystal clear waters, but you do have to walk about 5-10 minutes in the horrible heat for sea without a lot of rocks. The pool is salt water which I do not love for the eyes, but it was very deep which was fun! Fun, I say, before someone did there business in it, but pool was cleaned quickly. The TV's do not work at all, once again very dated, however not that we came to watch TV! The food was your average all inclusive, in fact very average I actually loved the hotel layout, we had a nice balcony and I probably would return, because I do admire the atmosphere. If you plan on leaving the hotel during summer, do not bother it is excruciating in the heat we planned a nice trip but succumbed to our own sweat, it is a lovely area though. My summary is I do recommend if you can cope without air con (I promise you get used to it) P.s dont know why I kept calling the staff 'team' as if I work with them lol
July 2026 stay -Please do not book this hotel when it is hot, we left after the first night, I can only describe sleeping in their hotel rooms like being in a sauna. I had to have several cold showers the 24 hours I was there. Paid over three thousand pound to stay some where else the other 6 nights as we just couldn't do it, especially with children. Beautiful location but the rooms are terrible, dripping with sweat 24/7 and we have been on many holidays, never had to leave. Thank you to the friendly staff. Great island but would only do a day trip from now on.
Fabulous location, lovely island. Good local bus network to get around. Hotel rooms a little dated but adequate and very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Food very good plenty of choice and always hot.
Firstly Formentera is a stunning destination. This hotel however does not do its beatiful grounds / surroundings justice. We arrived at the planned time of around 1pm but we're unable to check in / access the room until after 3pm as per hotel policy. We have never experienced that previously. No late check out available meaning 6+ hours without a room on the last day. In total we had 9 hours of being 'homeless' during the stay. Rooms: The accommodation at Insotel Club Maryland is 2* quality. As many others have stated the decor and furniture are from the 1980's, shockingly dated, badly maintained, poor quality furniture with rock hard beds. Literally everything needs updating accommodation wise. The bungalows are in 2 storey blocks so are not bungalows in the accepted sense. Maisonette blocks would be a better description. No air conditioning, no WiFi, no safe, no kettle / iron, no remotely watchable TV etc. That low level of basic amenities is 2* level max. The ground floor terraces are small with old, cheap plastic patio furniture sets. The sliding patio doors are easily opened from the outside even when 'locked'. The ceiling fans kind of worked in mid / late September but I dread to think how hot and humid the rooms would be during July & August. The shower had hardly any pressure. The water temperature pleased itself by continually varying from hot to cold mid use. We initially had room 260. Upon arrival there was a strong dirty / musky smell throughout the accommodation. Over the next few hours a puddle began to form from underneath the bathroom floor and run into the hallway / kitchen area. It smelt like waste water. The hotel staff quickly arranged for a maintenance person to attend. He wrongly diagnosed the issue, was rude / hostile when challenged. The water was cleaned up by a maid. Within an hour it was back, witnessed by a member of the reception team. Offered alternative accommodation but it was even worse. We were eventually moved to another bungalow the next day. The hotel reception staff were beyond useless. The maids and restaurant / bar staff however were great. Rooms 'cleaned' daily with 'fresh' towels. Food: The standard of the buffet food in the main restaurant is poor, bland and repetitive. We didn't eat anything hotter than just lukewarm for 10 days other than when we dined elsewhere locally or in San Francesc. Evening meals served from 7.30pm which we found to be a bit late. Tea, coffee etc are only available at breakfast in the main restaurant. The hike to the restaurant / pool / beach area is especially brutal during the afternoon sun. Many struggled. If you have the slightest mobility issues or are not reasonably fit then my strong advice is to book elsewhere on the island. Also noted by many others is that British visitors are a minority which is usually a plus. The vast majority of guests are Spanish and German. Like others, we also found the majority of other guests to be rude, loud, disrespectful and selfish. The amount of crying / screaming kids into the early hours was disturbing. I can kind of see the appeal of this hotel for young family's on a budget but honestly I could not in good faith recommended it to anybody outside of that demographic. The hotel layout, facilities, rooms and food are that bad. The on site shop was not restocked during our 10 days and ran out of bottled water amongst other basics. The hotel should close for a year in order to upgrade its facilities to 21st century standards and to train new management / reception staff.
