The way we were treated was appalling, and the room was disgusting. We arrived twenty minutes early; the room was ready, but even though we mentioned having a disability, we were told that the rule was for everyone to wait until 2:00 PM. The room had a view of a wall, bloodstains, hair, and cockroaches. When I went to complain, I was told—I kid you not—that since I had booked through Booking.com, this was simply what I had paid for. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
I stayed here for 1 week in March 26 purely because of it's location. It is great for exploring Malta, various bus stops a very short walk and the bus station is about 15 minutes walk too. It is a basic, budget hotel and definitely not 4*. The room was adequate with a TV, fridge, very small balcony and walk in shower, it was clean and tidy but outdated. I asked for my towels to be changed a few times because they were grey and old, this was done immediately.
The food was ok, it is not a self service buffet as advertised. You are served behind perspex which was very difficult for old people to hear. This really put me off returning because I like to choose my own food and the amount. Desserts were the same every night just different food colouring used. Tinned fruit was served daily with chopped apple in, no more fresh fruit available, again this put me off. The restaurant was more like a canteen. You are not allowed to do your own toast! The waiting staff are friendly.
There is a shop next door which sells everything you need and Jeff's bakery a very short walk. I didn't use any other facilities. The lobby had a very strange smell.
This hotel is noisy and is used for some kind of school or college stay. The kids can be intimidating in the games room and take over the hotel! I didn't see any adults supervising them, especially late at night.
I will be honest, do your research, go with an open mind, great for exploring or backpacking. I didn't have an unpleasant stay but I only ate breakfast and lunch and slept there.
Myself and my wife, we stayed for 4 nights in March. The hotel offers all the basic services but it doesn’t go further than that.
Only cheap soap in the bathroom.
Breakfast is served canteen style and food is just ok.
Staff is friendly and careful.
We had our own transport (tiny rental car), so we were ok moving from the hotel and we always found parking nearby.
All that said, the hotel was good enough value for money.
Rooms are out of date. Mold on the walls. If you close the door on the balcony, you lock yourself on the balcony. Same free breakfast everyday, they only changed one fruit each day. The hotel seems to host school aged kids English language camps so kids where running around the hotel at all hours of the day and late into the night. There are no outlets near the bed so no access to phones at night. Air conditioning sucked, woke up every night in my sweat. Gym has old equipment and is hot. Room doors slam shut so and can hear it from other rooms. Elevator is slow.
It was awful! The personel at the breakfast was very impolite, they watched how much and what we eat.
We found a cockroach in our bedroom and that was disgusting. The room smelled badly, it has old smelly furniture and the tap could not be turned off. Although it is May, the weather is not hot yet, but the air-conditioner is turned on, so it was cold in the room and the personel didn't turn if off, because it is summer so we catched a cold.
We don't recommend it.
