A solid budget-friendly base, but manage your expectations
We’ve just returned from a week at the BlueSea Club Caleta Dorada, and overall, we had a really enjoyable holiday—but it’s important to be honest about what this hotel actually is.
First things first: its a basic 3-star property that has clearly had some renovation work done, but the finish isn't particularly high quality. It’s functional rather than fancy, and if you go in with that mindset, you’ll have a much better experience.
Food & Dining
The buffet restaurant is clean, well-organised, and tidy, which we appreciated. The food itself is fine—nothing to write home about, but edible and plentiful. The main downside is the lack of variety; it’s very repetitive day-to-day, so by the end of the week you’ll likely find yourself craving something different. Still, we never went hungry.
Pools & Atmosphere
There are a few pool areas to choose from, which is a plus. The main large pool has a lively, party atmosphere—fine if you're in a group or don't mind noise, but definitely not the place for families or anyone seeking peace. We much preferred the smaller pool near the restaurant, which was quieter, more relaxed, and much better suited to couples and those with young children.
Entertainment & Staff
Evening entertainment is pretty basic—think low-key quizzes and simple shows—so don’t expect West End standards. It passes the time but isn't a highlight. As for the staff, we found most of them to be quite moody and disengaged, which was a shame. A smile goes a long way, and it was noticeably missing from many of the team.
Rooms & Cleanliness
The room itself was okay in terms of space and layout, but cleanliness let it down. On arrival, we found stained sheets and a bathroom that hadn’t been properly cleaned, which wasn’t the best first impression. Housekeeping improved slightly during our stay, but it never felt thorough.
The Bottom Line
Despite the criticisms, we genuinely did have a great time. The hotel is cheap, cheerful, and in a decent location for exploring Caleta de Fuste. It’s not luxurious, and it’s not particularly polished, but if you're after an affordable sun getaway and you're not too fussy, it does the job.
Would I return? Possibly—but only with the right expectations and a good deal. A solid 3-star experience.
We had a really enjoyable stay at Club Caleta Dorada.
The all-inclusive package was very good, with a great selection of food and drinks. The food was varied each day and there was always something nice to choose from.
Our room in Block C was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The front room air conditioning wasn’t working, which was a little disappointing, but the bedroom stayed cool enough. The bedroom door looked quite old compared to some of the newer doors in other rooms, but this didn’t affect our stay.
We did find a cockroach in the room on our first night, but to be fair to the hotel, the staff dealt with it within two minutes of us reporting it, which was excellent service.
The main area for improvement is the entertainment. It felt a bit limited, and the children’s entertainment starting at 8:30 PM is too late for younger children and babies. Moving this earlier would make a big difference for families.
The cocktail selection on the all-inclusive could also be better. I was hoping for a Piña Colada, so if they added that to the menu, I’d definitely be even more likely to return!
Overall, we had a lovely holiday. The staff were helpful, the food was good, and despite a few minor issues, we would happily come back again. With a few small improvements to the entertainment and cocktail menu, this hotel would be even better. ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The hotel is amazing! The entertainment has been fantastic and the team that lead it all are truly the best. They get everyone involved and make sure there is a variety of stuff on to suit everyone. The hotel staff are super friendly and are always happy to help when needed. The food is also really good and there's a decent variety even for those picky eaters. Would highly recommend.
Well what can I say! Amazing, fantastic the whole package. This place is amazing. The entertainment staff have been the best I've seen in a long time. They take time to come round the pool side and tell you when activities are starting and where they will be held. Also they still go ahead with all activities even if no one participate in them. They always put on an amazing show for kids and Adults. They are always about to ask question and won't turn anyone away. They were in a meeting in the back when I went and asked them a question about one of thr activities, and they stopped what they were doing and answered my questions. They always take so much care of the children, and make sure that everyone is having a fantastic holiday. The entertainment team are so professional at what they do, and make sure they cater for all different countries. I would like to say a massive thank you for me and my family.
Just been to Bluesea club Caleta for a week
The food was lovely and a good choice but the restaurant felt like a works canteen with really dirty stained chairs.
The bungalows were badly needing an update
Worst of all was there was no entertainment around the pool and evening entertainment was terrible
You have to put a 1 euro deposit on a small plastic beaker and that's it for your drinks no large beakers only small ones (terrible)
Food from the pool bar is chips ,hotdogs etc on a small papper plate
Good things are it's only a 10 minute walk to the town
I would avoid this hotel in future
