Wonderful find. Wish we had been able stay longer then a night. Lovely friendly staff happy to help. Evening food was great. We didn't stay for breakfast, but will hopefully try it next time. The place does look a little tired, but they are currently in the process of renovating, and to us this was of no detriment to our stay. Definitely be back!
We chose this for a weeks stay to visit family in the area, and perhaps to reminisce a little. Although the room we had was just ever so slightly tired looking it was very comfortable and functional. The staff however were out of this world. The whole team, from the manager to the cleaners were exceptional, attentive and helpful above and beyond. My wife and I were treated like long lost relatives. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there, and we would not hesitate to return. Thank you all so much for making our stay so enjoyable.
It’s a lovely older house, but could use some attention. I thought it was a lot to pay for a place where the water in the shower was too cold for me to wash my hair. I was able to wash my body, quickly, but just couldn’t deal with getting my head and hair under such cold water. The hot water tap in the room didn’t work at all. The dining room wasn’t open that evening as advertised. I’d been counting on it for food. The woman who checked me in said “we’ve tried to let everyone know” but they had not tried to contact me. Then again, it was very clear she had more important things to do than bother with me. Did not feel welcome.
Don't be fooled by the photos. The building is tired and needs substantial investment to make it look as good as it is in the photos. Positives - large room. Bed linen spotless as were the towels. Negatives - room "tired" and in need of decorating. Bathroom likewise. First night we were informed there was a Proms Night going on that night which, to be fair, didn't bother us. Second night, we had someone trying to get into our room sometime after midnight. This was quite frightening as they were persistent in their efforts. Just as we were about to phone reception we heard them " go away". After showering in the morning, suddenly a member of housekeeping appeared in the middle of our room. No knock on the door before entering, or calling out to check if any one was in the room. These incidents we reported to the lady at the desk when leaving and we did get an apology but to be honest both incidents were out down to "mistakes" which makes the whole set up unprofessional. Someone commented in previous reviews it was like staying at Fawlty Towers. I would agree.
What a fabulous find for my 4 night break! The hotel is easy to find, the building is a lovely old Manor House with fabulous gardens. Longlands Lake is a short walk away. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a view across the garden, the en-suite had a bath & separate shower. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, the food was fantastic! It was lovely to be greeted by a roaring fire in the reception area, when returning from a long day! I will definitely return and would 100% recommend! Thank you!
