Hotel Belvedere exceeded our expectations. The location is excellent, offering a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the station's main street. Bus stops are close by, and the main train station is just a few minutes' walk away.The well-designed room layout felt both spacious and functional, but the true highlight was the balcony overlooking the famous Dreamy Slope with the magnificent Eiger as its backdrop. It is fantastic that the hotel has installed A/C in all the rooms—a wonderful premium amenity to have. However, since we visited in June and the weather was so beautifully cool after sunset, we found that letting the fresh alpine air in at night was much more enjoyable. We did experience a notable setback on our first night when there was no hot water for the shower and it was already after 10 PM. It was partly our oversight for not checking the water when we first got to the room. Fortunately, management handled it very well by immediately providing a spare room just for us to use. The issue was successfully resolved by the next day, and the rest of our stay went very smoothly. The staff's attention to detail was impressive throughout our stay, from the seamless train station transfers to the smooth check-in and check-out procedures. The hotel bar was also lovely and boasts the same incredible scenery; enjoying our welcome drinks there was a wonderful highlight. Breakfast was just average for us—while the selection was sufficient and included fresh honeycomb, it lacked the made-to-order options we experienced at other hotels on this trip. A quick piece of advice for future travelers: book early! The coveted Eiger View Executive Rooms sell out fast and were already completely unavailable when we tried booking six months in advance.
★★★★★ We spent three wonderful nights at the Belvedere Hotel in Grindelwald, and it was one of the highlights of our Swiss vacation. We stayed in Executive Room 523, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. Waking up each morning to the stunning mountain scenery was an experience we’ll never forget. What truly set this hotel apart was the exceptional service. Fred, the hotel manager, was incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating. He took the time to review our itinerary and offered suggestions that helped us make the most of every day we were in the area. His local knowledge and genuine hospitality made a huge difference in our trip. We also booked the gondola fondue experience. At first, I thought it might be a little touristy, but it turned out to be exactly what we needed to kick off our vacation. It was fun, memorable, and a uniquely Swiss experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is outstanding, and the location is perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend the Belvedere Hotel to anyone visiting Grindelwald—10 out of 10!
Had the best experience at this Hotel!! Worth the money. Comfort, service and style all in one. Amazing outdoor heated pool, lovely welcome at the reception and superbly clean rooms. We cancelled our room at Hotel Spinne on the same day because it was old and dingy, not what was advertised. Hotel Belvedere saved the day! Special mention and thanks to Roxanne for the smooth, quick booking on the phone, to the warm welcome at reception and making us feel like home, after a long and tiring day. Amazing! We loved our rooms and the breakfast and the kind staff and all the treats (chocolate, tea, notes). We had a family suite. The room was great for us. Two parents and three adult-sized teens. We also liked the location. Very hand by the trains. We also enjoyed the pool! It was very hot when we were there, so the pool was a refreshing afternoon activity after exploring and before dinner. I loved all the old pictures of the hotel and the hoteliers through the ages.
What a lovely hotel. You can really tell that the owners care about providing a special experience for the guests. Had an incredible (clean, modern, nice size, comfortable) room facing the Eiger. Worth the price for a memorable room with ample balcony to gaze out at the town and mountain. Had a great dinner at the restaurant. Again, terrace view, wonderful service, delicious meal. Many steps above the tourist places on the main drag. Unfortunately, we weren’t there when 1910 was open, but if it’s even better than the regular restaurant, it must be amazing. Lots of little touches in the room and hotel that just make it perfect. You can tell the family ownership tries hard. They are succeeding. And, i should not forget to say that staff was helpful and super nice! Everyone!
