Lovely hotel. Quite spread out across multiple buildings. Pools are nice but unless you are up before sunrise all the sunbeds are reserved with towels despite policy not to. It is all inclusive and drinks are self serve, but it’s limited in choice, and only available in main dining area. There is a bar where you can order cocktails but only a choice of 4 on a board. Ask for anything else at your own risk!!
Views over the lake from the balcony are stunning however.
Unfortunately for us we booked 11 nights in this “4 star” hotel. Tonight is the first night and honestly the entire experience so far has been humbling. I’m very surprised by the positive reviews of this incredible high quality place and good food, because… what?
Family of three, our baby is 11 months old.
All inclusive deal, but “deal” is a hilarious term for almost 4k euros and arriving here.
Let’s begin:
Arriving was interesting, the street there is picturesque and winding, as is expected of Italian hills around the area. The hotel immediately makes the impression of an old, cheap, rundown and dingy motel.
Enter into the lobby which you almost dont find behind a huge pillar and next to a restaurant that looks like a trailer park reception. Putting a car in the “secure” garage (the garage is “secured” by a chain and lock across the entryway, Lock is broken so it’s not secure) 10€/day.
We received 65 cocktail vouchers and when we mentioned we don’t drink, and if it were at all possible to maybe instead get beach towels (10€ PER TOWEL and if you want new towels, 10€ again!!!) we were told no. There’s non-alcoholic cocktails… and they’re not high quality either but cheap knock offs of cocktails with cheap knock off booze, if you want a Coke Zero you’re out of luck. No Coke Zero.
We were given a room that is up some stairs… although we have a stroller. No switching rooms, though. Good thing we are both athletic enough to carry the stroller
Plus the baby. They put an old plastic cot in the room and I bet we will also have to pay for that. The room itself is fine, amenities are nonexistent. Fridge is empty (although it’s all inclusive) in the bathroom there are four single use plastic cups, not even glasses to drink water with. No welcome water bottle, nothing. There is only a soap dispenser in the bathroom and then the exact same hand soap dispenser in the shower. It’s not body wash, there’s no shampoo, no conditioner, it’s hand soap. How this is four stars, I have no idea.
There is no blanket on the bed, it’s just a sheet. At least the AC worked, kind of.
View of the lake is of course breathtaking, the lake is always breathtaking.
On we went to dinner and got herded like cattle to our seat. The baby high chair we were given was completely filthy and dirty, we had to clean it ourselves. No explanation of the dinner service, there’s only “Apfelshorle” (no other juice mixes available like in any other hotel or restaurant in the area), water, cheap wine or beer from a dispenser, or coke (not zero, remember!). The salad buffet was some soggy potato salad, lettuce, tomato, beets and then a lot of overcooked broccoli/carrots/cauliflower/beans or the same thing but with a nondescript white cheese sauce.
The starter was completely overly salted risotto or completely bland ravioli, the main (pork or trout) was the same. The pork was tough, sauce nondescript and salty, the trout full of bones. Dessert was a scoop of lemon ice cream and some more soggy fruit. On top of that the room was unbearably hot, completely crowded and loud. There were no options for babies, although our waiter did try his best to make sure the trout for the baby wasn’t salty.
We went back to our room ready for bed, as every table outside on the terrace for the evening was already full halfway through dinner, with everyone rushing to get there first. I’m sure it will be the same thing tomorrow at the pool. Across the hallway from us seems to be a room full of partying Italian teenagers, who are probably more suited to this type of “4 star hotel”.
Overall, having only been here about four hours, it’s not been a good first impression and I’m very apprehensive how we are going to spend 10 more days and nights here.
Really great service, staff really nice, good breakfast, lunch, dinner, ice cream and swimming pools.
Me and my family strong recommend this hotel!!
(Only bad thing is the smoke people smoking in forbidden areas like in the pool side, but this is not concerned to the hotel, it's conneced to bad educated people that believe that everyone should smoke with them.)
Beautiful location with amazing views and nice pools. Okay breakfast and lunch, but dinner and drinks were not good. Staff is nice but not super welcoming.
Clean and well maintained hotel. Very good breakfast with fresh products and wide range of dishes to chose from. Great view of Garda lake but less experienced drivers may find the location a little bit challenging for driving. Internet in the rooms don't work at all and at the front desk connection is ok when it is not too crowded.
