1st time in all-inclusive hotel. Rooms on smaller side. I liked that rooms are new. Silicone in the shower is new/not moldy. Food, drinks(soda dispensers, this company is much better than Nekta) and even activities(tenis, mini golf, paddle boards and boat, kayaks, ) are "free", wich is super nice! You always have food/snacks available. I would like, that the notification tablet, what alergen are in food, be taken more seriously or updated regularly. There was at least 3x times that tablet said there is lactose/dairy in the food, but when we asked the cook, he said otherwise.
We stayed here for 4 nights and as a family group we booked 4 rooms. We were allocated rooms all together which we really appreciated. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean with a big bathroom and balcony. At night the resort is very quiet, it's definitely not a place if you like to party - we are not party people so this worked well for us. There are a lot of steps up to the rooms which were not a problem for us but they were a bit annoying with heavy baggage. The resort is big with lots to do: golf, tennis, kayaks, pedalos, bike hire, a beach and a pool. The surrounding area is quite quiet but there are some small restaurants and bars nearby, a big supermarket about 10 minutes' walk away, a small theme park and a monster truck show. The food is decent and we were never hungry, but sometimes it was difficult for people with restricted diets to get a good variety of options. Beer and wine were available from about lunchtime, and then after 9pm you could also try some local flavoured brandies which were very interesting. Staff were great, they were helpful and friendly and although this is primarily a German speaking resort we did not have any problems communicating in English.

Our stay at Maistra Select Funtana was a mixed experience that ultimately deserves three stars. On the positive side, we were very happy to be upgraded to a larger and more spacious room, and the food was decent and exactly what you would expect from average, typical all-inclusive hotel buffets. However, we also faced several disappointments during our trip, starting with the air conditioning unit in our room that continuously dripped water directly onto the floor. The biggest letdown was the entertainment crew, who felt incredibly unprofessional and disengaged. At the small pool, three girls from the animation team were simply sitting around scrolling on their phones and flying a drone with no other children around. My son had to gather his courage to go up and ask them to play basketball in the water, but they just rejected him by saying they did not have swimsuits, which left him feeling very sad. This complete lack of effort continued in the gaming room, where the staff members just played pool with each other instead of participating or interacting with the kids, and I actually took pictures of this as proof. The resort itself has good potential, but the management seriously needs to train the animation team to actually engage with young guests rather than entertaining themselves.
