I had a really great stay at Triton Authentic Cretan Hotel.
What stood out the most for me was the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful, and they really showed me the warm and friendly side of Greek hospitality. They made me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived.
A special mention has to go to Manos, the dining room manager. He was absolutely wonderful, always kind, attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly. You could really feel that he cared about the guests and wanted everyone to have a good experience. People like Manos are a big part of what made this stay so memorable.
I was also lucky enough to receive a room upgrade, and the room was excellent. It definitely made the stay even better.
The only thing I personally connected with a little less was the lunch and dinner options in the all inclusive package. That being said, the food was still perfectly fine overall, and I really do not have anything serious to complain about.
One recommendation for anyone staying here is to definitely rent a car. It improves the whole experience by several levels and gives you the freedom to explore Crete properly. There are so many beautiful places around the island, and having a car made my holiday much more enjoyable.
Overall, I had a very positive experience and would happily recommend Triton Authentic Cretan Hotel. Thank you to the whole team for the hospitality, and especially to Manos for making the experience even better.
Hotel Lovely Staff also and very helpful it's clean. Food isn't 4 star more 2? No bar? No entertainment, Drinks from vending machine self service, switched off att 11pm. Pool really nice, You need a car to explore, village is orthentic Greek, locals friendly and helpful. 20m from stoney beach which is Georgeous, local restaurants have nice food and the normal snacks. There are a lot of locals using the restaurants which is always a good thing. We would return to Greece but no thus far away from the airport.
"A hotel right by the sea, complete with sun loungers and umbrellas. You can't complain about the room – it’s quite nice, with a direct sea view from both the room and the bathroom. Always clean, thanks to Ms. Sofia. The front desk and dining room staff were very friendly and helpful.
As for the 'all inclusive' promised by the travel agency, anyone who has been to Turkey or Egypt might be very disappointed. It’s more like three meals rather than true all-inclusive. There are three dishes to choose from at each meal, so everyone will find something for themselves, along with fresh vegetables, salads, and fruit. Ice cream and desserts as well. You can't complain and it's really tasty – the only problem is that it's rarely warm. Drinks include juice machines, sodas, water, beer, as well as white and red wine. Hot drinks are mostly poor coffee and a few types of tea.
Cats are everywhere throughout the town and the hotel. They are hungry, often have kittens, and should be fed. The kitchen doesn't seem to do it, so tourists should step in (you can use food from the dining hall, but you can also buy canned food in the nearby shop starting from just 0.64 euros).
Overall, a quiet place where you can truly relax away from the big city and noise."
We stayed at this hotel for a week in the summer 2026. It was a very nice experience. It was suppose to be our basecamp while exploring and traveling around the island with a rented car. but instead we spent much of our time in and around the hotel, because of the nice environment.
Food buffet: very decent, staff: very friendly, rooms: great
Price / quality: perfect
tip: jetski discovery tour located just across the road at the beach. for more info please check my review: Salty Water Sports.
4 STARS? YOU FIND OUT WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG.
A good hotel should provide the basics: a comfortable room where you can sleep peacefully, good food and a pleasant beach.
But the real test of a hotel begins when something goes wrong. This is especially important for a 4- or 5-star hotel.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, our holiday depended heavily on the hotel's management. Unfortunately, this is exactly where Triton failed us.
For 6 consecutive nights, we were repeatedly woken by loud banging from the room directly above us. Unsecured windows were hitting the closed exterior shutters in the wind. We complained again and again to reception, staff and directly to the Front Office / General Manager.
After 5 days of complaints, the manager finally secured the windows and shutters. IT TOOK LESS THAN 1 MINUTE - and THE BANGING STOPPED. But the fix was temporary, the noise returned, and after 6 sleepless nights we gave up. We had booked a 14-night holiday, but CHECKED OUT 3 NIGHTS EARLY, despite having already paid for the entire stay.
Problems can happen in any hotel. What matters is HOW THEY ARE HANDLED and this is where Triton failed us.
There were other disappointments too: very poor Wi-Fi in most of the parts of the hotel, just a few free beach sunbeds for a hotel of this size and considerable differences between rooms sold within the same Suite category.
There were positives:
- food selection was small, but the food itself was tasty.
- lady at the reception - Neofyta - was wonderful - very kind, helpful and genuinely trying to find solutions. Unfortunately, the important decisions were not hers to make.
In our opinion, Triton does not deserve a 4-star rating. It is misleading for guests who expect the level of service normally associated with good 4-star hotels.
We have visited Crete 5 times and stayed in hotels of different categories. Triton was by far our worst hotel experience, not only in Crete, but anywhere we have travelled.
Psychro Cave (Greek: Σπήλαιο Ψυχρού) is an ancient Minoan sacred cave in the Lasithi plateau in the Lasithi district of eastern Crete. Around the beginning of 20th century, several scholars identified Psychro with Dikte, a name used by some ancient authors to refer to the location of Zeus's upbringing. Multiple subsequent scholars have disagreed with this theory; Mieke Prent, writing in 2005, desc

Trapeza, Crete is a Neolithic and Bronze Age sacred cave on the island of Crete in Greece. Some of the Bronze Age pottery finds at Trapeza are similar to specimens recovered at Knossos and Vasiliki. It is described as a "burial cave", and sometimes called the "table of Minos" (trapeza meaning 'table' in Greek).
