We spent a week at this hotel and returned home monday. First the staff are amazing. Cannot fault them. Everyone was so helpful. Very polite. Top service from staff. The hotel is lovely itself. Rooms are very basic, no kettle, or tea or coffee but we did rent a kettle which you get back the deposit. But the air con is not very good for the size of the hotel I would expect the air con to be better. We had a pool view balcony room and the shower is epic. Food is your standard all inclusive food. If you like trying new things then it can be good for that. I do think the kids section was hyped up and it was 5 options which was a meat of sorts pasta, sauce, a veg, and fries. There is however plenty of fruit, but even just a standard chicken nuggets would have been appreciated for kids. The pools are lovely. If your kids like the slides this is great. There is also a kids little pool which is perfect to watch the kids and sit on a sunbed. The entertainment was not great to be honest, non of it English and started at 10pm every night which is too late for kids. Also the threatre is the other side of the hotel so a small walk but up and down steps. There is a train stop on the opposite side of the road which comes hourly for 5 euro to take you to next town which is great for the beach and shops. There is a snack bar also but again same foods everyday. Not very central so would need to use taxi to get to places.
Lovely family friendly hotel. Rooms are spacious, clean & comfortable (they can be a little loud at times so if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs). The variety and pools, activities and slides kept everyone busy; day & night. The food varies depending on the day of the week and they accommodate for children. (They are limited in gluten free and lactose free options). Staff are friendly and helpful. They offer a variety of kids activities in the evenings (jumping castle, trampolining ect but these are an added fee 6-8€ approx, cash). The beach is a short 5 minute walk from the hotel which has a restaurant (cash) and bathrooms. Overall we have had a lovely stay and would be happy to return.
We loved our weekly stay in this hotel. Very clean, well organized, amazing diverse food, nice activities and great pools. Personnel looked a bit tired, but their attitude was always very polite and careful. I only would improve on the kids menu - would be nice to have healthier options plus cooked oats for breakfast. Thank you for taking good care of us!
Stayed here for a week and the only thing I’ll say was good at this place was the food, something for everyone and great for kids, the Mexican and Brazilian nights were very good! However the main issues I had with this hotel are that it’s supposed to be all inclusive and there are so many things that are not included… such as the VR system and the game room all cost extra, even the little things in your room, if you want a kettle, an ironing board or even using the safe in your room, you have to pay extra. The game room as well is very expensive (2 euro for 1 game) and a lot of the machines don’t work and just swallow your money and don’t let you play. The pool although is entertaining for kids with the slides amusements is very cold.
Thing that annoyed me the most is the gym, I’m a gym user having a decent gym on holiday is important for me. When looking at the website they post lovely photos of the nice CrossFit gym with all the racks and exercise bikes and barbells and weights and say that it’s open from 7am-10pm.. however when you arrive you find out this gym is only open between 10-12 and against at 3-5 not ideal for someone with kids to use as this is the time of day they like to be outside enjoying the pool.. and the gym that is open all day is the tiny gym with next to no equipment in it that they don’t even post photos of on the website.
The alcohol at this resort is dreadful as well.. I don’t expect branded drinks or anything at an all inclusive but the beer they have taste bloody awful, the spirits are even worse and the cocktails are from a machine and taste awful, only aloud 2 drinks at a time and has about 2 sips in each drink as they are loaded up with ice cube (if you ask for no ice you get less then half the cup full and it’s warm)
Over all I wouldn’t visit again, this could be a really nice place but they ruin it by miss leading people and being very tight and charging extra for things.
Staff are very friendly though and the twin sisters who take photos are brilliant, we got some lovely family photos and nice ones of our daughter thanks to them!
Just returned from an all inclusive week stay at the hotel and for us it was poor to average at best.
Our first room was infested with ants (found them running in and out of skirting boards and eventually on our beds and towels). This had my wife and kids on edge as to where else they could be (could they have crawled on them or in their hair when they’re sleeping, in the clothes we had just unpacked etc.) We raised this to reception where we were first told they would send a handyman up to place poison down (??!?). I then challenged this and said they’re everywhere and I wasn’t happy with that solution - I said we wanted a new room so a staff member came to visit our room and see for herself. She questioned what food we had taken into the room - we’d only been there one night and had purchased one food item (which they sold in their shop). Definitely safe to say this was a Ukino issue, rather than an us issue - we were also staying in the last room in the corridor on the 8th (top) floor so couldn’t have been any further away from the food halls.
After some extensive deliberation with reception (4 visits) they eventually moved us temporarily to a smaller room where we had beds for 3, despite being a family of 4. In that temporary room, lo’ and behold what did I find on the sofa bed? An ant! I only found the one so after much persuasion with my family we just lived with it and I slept on that bed - I suspected this was going to be a theme in most rooms.
The next day we then had to wait round until all the new guests had been checked in for Ukino to reallocate a room to us. Not the best but we reluctantly accepted this in the interests of just resolving things as we’d already wasted enough time trying to sort this given we were only there for a week. We got to the next room and although we did see more ants (as predicted) it wasn’t as bad as the first room and by this point we had resigned ourselves to sharing our room with the little critters. I have videos of the ant situation which I’ll gladly upload to YouTube and other social media channels if my experiences are questioned or doubted. Included a picture with this review but it’s obviously difficult to get a decent picture of numerous tiny ants whilst they’re moving. This was a snipped of a video where they were infront of the bathroom door.
On the whole the food was okay, nothing to write home about. Very typical of any all inclusive resort. We got a bit bored 4 days in so we started leaving the hotel for evening meals.
The pool was good, although a little chaotic at times. Some of the older kids were acting in ways that could’ve hurt the younger ones (e.g. absolutely belting the ball from one side of the pool to the other with kids playing underneath or just to the side) - the lifeguards were almost non-existent so nothing really got addressed. This took place in the pool away from the slides; so I can’t talk about how the other pool was.
The hotel does feel like it’s in the middle of nowhere as you can’t really walk to anywhere other than the beach (which was really nice) or a few local restaurants. To go anywhere you need an uber which was okay and if you’re willing to travel a little there are some decent shopping places a bit further afield.
Ant situation aside, the hotel is okay. The weather was fantastic, and if you’re looking for a lazy holiday by the pool at a typical seaside resort and you’re not too concerned by bugs, then I suppose it ticks those boxes.
Maybe we’ve been a bit naive but we went with higher expectations of both the hotel and the area given one week cost us 4k and it’s listed as 4 stars on Jet2 and Trip Advisor. However, for us, it was nowhere near that level.
If you’ve read this review in its entirety then I’m sure it won’t come as a surprise to you that we won’t be returning, nor would we recommend the Ukino to anyone.
