Fantastic 4-star hotel by the ocean!We had an amazing stay at Vila Galé Santa Cruz. The location is perfect — right on the oceanfront with stunning views. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The pool area is beautiful and well-maintained. The food was delicious with plenty of options for breakfast. Very friendly and professional staff. The proximity to the airport is a big plus for transit and didn't disturb our peace at all. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday in Madeira!

The value for money is excellent, and having parking right in front of the hotel or, alternatively, in the nearby underground garage was very convenient. The rooms are well-maintained. We also had breakfast every morning, which was fresh and enjoyable. The highlight of our stay was definitely seeing Esmeralda every day. She not only makes the most delicious pancakes and waffles, but she is also incredibly friendly and always happy to share great recommendations for day trips or answer any questions about her beautiful island. Her warm personality made every breakfast even more special. Despite being close to the airport, the hotel was surprisingly quiet. In fact, it was quite fascinating to watch the different airlines and pilots on their flight paths while relaxing by the pool—a unique experience that added to our stay. Overall, we had a fantastic time in Madeira.
we had breakfast and dinner included, they won't give you a single glass of water, water and drinks are not included! it's ridiculous! for a glass of water to drink food you will pay another 4 euros! rude untrained staff, I constantly asked them where I can go, and what do you have? and how to get there or there, they don't tell you anything on their own. Sandra at the reception constantly meets you with such a disgruntled face as if you came to her house and stole money. the restaurant employees are good and quite nice people, the food is terrible, there is no meat or fish, there is one point during the course where one chef fries fish and meat one small piece at a time. and ALL, I repeat once again ALL hotel guests stand in this queue to get a tiny piece of meat or fish. I stood in line for 25 minutes, the line was long, a woman who looked like she was the manager stood at the back and laughed. This is not funny, I paid to eat, there was no food! The hotel and the room are great, if you are going there, do not pay for food, go to restaurants on the neighboring streets, this hotel will rip you off and not give you food. There are not enough sunbeds by the pool, maybe 30-35. Not enough for this hotel. I asked to pay for a late check-out, they refused me, saying that the hotel was full, although on the website 75% of the rooms were empty on Wednesday, June 24. I forgot to add that although the water looks incredibly clean in the pools and everything else, the jacuzzi was a nightmare. It is completely covered in human fat, around the edges in the middle you might think it is this color, but if you touch it with your fingernail… you will be shocked, it is all dirt and melted human fat!
The lobby and common areas in this place feel luxurious. But then you get into the hallways and the rooms themselves and it feels like a cheap motel. The carpet Is probably the worst part. It’s not just the color is awful, it smells bad. We also paid more to get the “ocean view” but the only way you could see part of the ocean is going out on the balcony and looking 90° to the right. Definitely should’ve been categorized as a partial ocean view. Had been advertised correctly I would’ve paid even more to have the ocean view. The lady who checked us in was unfriendly and short with us. The location is ok. You’re in a small town about a 20 minute drive from Funchal. The restaurants are limited in town. If I were to do it again, I would’ve stayed in Funchal.
