First impressions when you enter the hotel are really good. The reception area is wonderful, with great sea and pool views. It is very clean, and the staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Our room was on the 9th floor. It was very spacious and clean, with a small balcony offering side sea views. The shower leaked, and the towels were not always replaced, but apart from that, the room was spotless and quite comfortable. I was pleased we had a room that didn't face the pool, as some rooms overlooked the restaurant area and you could see straight inside them. Unfortunately, the pool area is what ruined my experience at this hotel. It was far too small for the number of guests staying there. The sunbeds were uncomfortably close together, and the pool was full of rude people playing ball games. It was neither relaxing nor pleasant. What frustrated me most was people reserving sunbeds from 7am. The same people every day would claim a large section of the pool area and leave towels on the sunbeds all day, even when they were away for hours. There was no lifeguard or member of staff patrolling the pool area to manage the situation. I was very pleased to see that every night they power washed the pool area and sunbeds, so great big plus for cleanliness! Another issue we had was with the restaurant. The food was okay, but nothing special and certainly not what I would expect from a 5-star hotel. The Atlantico, the main restaurant, was always extremely busy, and the queues were terrible. There were lots of children running around, touching food and putting it back, which was very off-putting. The food itself was repetitive and lacked variety. The speciality restaurants were also disappointing. They offered set menus and, again, there was nothing particularly memorable or high quality. The entertainment was hit and miss and, again, certainly not 5-star standard. The outside bar area near the sports bar felt more like an underground car park, with lots of concrete and very little atmosphere. Overall, this hotel is unfortunately not deserving of its 5-star rating and wasn't particularly special. The staff, however, were all lovely, friendly, and welcoming.
Fabulous hotel, All the staff were very nice and could not do enough for us. Food was excellent , lots of choice and good quality drinks. Perfect location on the promenade with lovely views from the hotel. It was my husband’s special birthday and they booked a table in their Madeira restaurant and provided a chocolate cake for us. The also placed a flower and birthday message in our room while we went down to breakfast. Madeira is a very pretty island, spotless and with very nice people
We had a wonderful stay at Enotel Lido Madeira, travelling together as a mother and son. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff, who made us feel comfortable throughout our stay. Our room was perfect for us, with two comfortable beds of a great size, making it ideal for our trip. We really appreciated the little thoughtful touches, including the two travel tags that were left in our room during the last night’s room service. It was a lovely gesture and a beautiful reminder of our stay. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning views, excellent facilities, a great location, and delicious food with plenty of choice. Every member of staff we met was kind, professional, and always willing to help. Thank you to everyone at Enotel Lido Madeira for making our holiday together so special. We created wonderful memories and would happily return in the future.
All round fantastic hotel with excellent service throughout the hotel, welcome desk, clean rooms with excellent service from the cleaning staff daily, efficient service from maintenance ( saw an umbrella that could not stay up get changed in minutes ) , food service in all restaurants supberb with all staff and chefs smiling daily promoting their food. The pool area is well maintained and clean with the pool warm from the time you enter and keeps that all day. Barmen always wanting to please you with some special mentions to Atik,Islam, Pedro and DJ in sports bar.
We did a couple of nights here by default, and while there was nothing intrinsically wrong with the hotel, we wouldn't return by choice. You couldn't fault the cleanliness, service, or food, but it was just too big, noisy* and impersonal for what we usually go for. And, it's location isn't great for those with health/walking issues. The room was fine, but the bed was far too hard. Necessitating actually sleeping on top of part of the duvet for padding. The food choice and quality were very good. Though again, the huge dining hall resembled a cafeteria. The staff were very efficient and polite in removing finished plates etc. All this said, other guests who had also been plonked there by Jet2 due to flight issues, thought it was great in comparison to where they'd just checked out of which they'd picked themselves for their holiday. * the noise part, came from guests who I suspect were also dropped there in haste - Liverpudlians, going on the two shocking renditions of 'you'll never walk alone', who would ordinarily be at a lower grade hotel due to cost. And not believing their luck at free alcohol on offer - so caned it for all it was worth. Well, they were on their 'olydays!
