Amazing hotel, friendly staff at main restaurant and main bar area. Delicious food at main restaurant, service was perfect and very friendly staff. Christo and George really helpful at Main bar area. Stayed in a Bungalow with share pool room, amazing rooms and right at private shared pool. We Stayed for 5 nights on All inclusive, main restaurant great service and really delicious food. Other restaurant like sunset and Greek restaurants not worth it, terrible service and unfriendly staff, won't eat their again. Because we only stayed for 5 nights these restaurants not included and have to pay extra and due to this you are treated like you don't deserve to eat there even if you want to pay. No service and don't even get a menu and have to ask for a menus. Main restaurant and main bar area overlooking beach are perfect 👌 well done to management and staff 👏
We had a calm and relaxing stay at this hotel. The atmosphere was peaceful, the facility was excellent. Overall, we really liked the hotel.
There are a few things worth considering when booking, depending on what is important to you:
1-The sea is quite wavy. We visited for one week in June and were only able to swim in the sea on two days. Of course, this is not something the hotel can control, but it may be an important factor for some people.
2-If your room is close to the parking area, the delivery vehicles start arriving around 6:00 a.m. If you enjoy sleeping in mornings, this could affect your experience.
3-Guests staying for a week are offered three à la carte restaurant dinners. However, most reservations were already fully booked during our stay. As a result, we were only able to use this benefit once.
4-The hotel offers a different dinner theme every night (i.e., Latin American, Asian etc.). I personally would have preferred a stronger focus on Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. Greece has some of the most delicious food in the world, and we would have loved to enjoy more authentic local dishes rather than international options such as teriyaki tofu, sushi, etc.
We had a great stay at Ikaros during our 7 day holiday. The resort is beautiful, the design is exceptional, built as a Cretan village and very nicely decorated with a lot of plants, flowers, palm trees, Greek ancient objects etc.
The rooms are good, but not at 5* standard. We were upgraded to a very calm bungalow, close to one of the pools. There is a very nice cleaning lady, Katerina, who cleans up the rooms every day and changes the towels. In the evening there is also someone coming to ask if you need anything. The shower and WC are separate, and the sink was in the room itself. Depends if you like it like this or not.
We had half board included, so we went to eat at breakfast and dinner. However, dinner can be exchanged with lunch if wished. Breakfast is very varied and good. Dinner seems a bit repetitive. Although they mention thematic dinner nights daily, they are in general quite similar: Cretan, Greek, Oriental, Mediterranean…
All the staff at the restaurant is very nice and friendly, most of them are Asian. We have to give a special mention to Manos, who was very friendly and communicative.
What we did not like in the restaurant was the fact that there were sometimes dirty plates on the plate counter at the buffet. For a 5* hotel this is not admissible.
There is a bigger pool and a smaller one towards the beach. Although some people said it was difficult to find free sunbeds, we always found free ones even at 10-11 AM, at the bigger pool.
The beach is private and shared with a hotel next door, however the sunbeds for Ikaros are different, better and easy to spot. We also found easily sunbeds on the beach. The beach and sea are beautiful.
The service at the reception was in general good, we asked for a late checkout of +3hours and it was accepted, transfer was arranged for us, everything was fine.
Overall, the resort is good, maybe a 4* to 5* and not a full 5*, there is definitely room for improvement.
Excellent hotel!! What is fantastic is that it is like a small village, with two wonderful beaches and three excellent swimming pools!
It is quite… what a pleasure! No rush no war for sun bed etc….
The restaurants are also excellent!
So why only 4 stars ? Just two aspects which need improvements!
First the aqua gym at 12:00… the prof are (all, they are 3) awful!!! They are not speaking they are yelling like hell!!!
The other “negative » point is the SPA which is absolutely not at the level of a 5 stars (even 4 stars) hotel….
Except the two above points the hotel is just perfect!!!
By far probably the best luxury resort in Crete! What an amazing resort and even better the best hospitality team ever. The whole team made our 60th birthday holiday for 19 people the most memorable. Very best quality rooms, food and facilities. They are a little pricey but absolutely worth it! Excellent location for shopping, local restaurants and lots more
