We had a fantastic stay at this hotel in Agios Nikolaos. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always happy to help, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The accommodation and facilities were spotless, comfortable, and well maintained, while the location was perfect for relaxing and exploring the area.
The warm hospitality truly made our stay special. We would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Crete! 🌼⭐️
A wonderful hotel with a great atmosphere and excellent staff!
We had a wonderful stay at Santa Marina and were very happy with our holiday. The hotel is cosy, clean and conveniently located close to the sea. There are plenty of shops, cafés and excursion agencies nearby. There are also two beautiful beaches close to the hotel: one is just a short walk away, while the other requires a little more walking, but it is definitely worth it.
I would especially like to mention the staff — everyone was very friendly, attentive, welcoming and helpful. A big thank you to all the waiters and waitresses for the excellent service and good atmosphere.
A special thank you to the head chef and the bartender. They are wonderful, warm and open-hearted people, and during our stay we got along so well that we almost became friends. Thank you for your kindness, attention and for creating such a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Thank you to the whole Santa Maria team for a wonderful holiday and many great memories. We would definitely love to come back again!
Highly recommended!
Personal was very nice specially cleaners but barman’s were horrible.. They don’t measure the drinks so most of the times they put too much alcohol in and its disgusting. They arent many people at once asking for drinks they have plenty of times to make them properly but they don’t even make them right.. they are so moody and kinda rude it was ruining our moods a lot. I would recommend rehire😇they don’t seem enjoying their jobs and people are annoyed. But great vacation and location🙏🏼
Santa Marina Unique Hotel, a four-star hotel in Agios Nikolaos that I visited a few weeks ago.
The hotel is located approximately 200 metres from the beach. The property is well maintained, with a truly beautiful garden. Inside, the hotel has been renovated in a retro style and is very well kept. It is clean, and the reception staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are decent, and housekeeping is provided daily.
The biggest advantage of the hotel is, without a doubt, its location: it is close to the beach, the famous lake in the city, the town centre, and the beautiful Almyros Beach.
Now, let's move on to the less favourable aspects, from my point of view:
- The swimming pool water is ice-cold. I couldn't stay in it even for a single day.
- We had an all-inclusive package, but we were not provided with drinking water in the room for the night, which I found quite disappointing.
- The bartender has a passive-aggressive attitude and seems to make cocktails "by ear": they were either far too strong or missing something. I should mention, however, that he was replaced by some other young staff members on one of the days, and they did an excellent job.
- Breakfast was decent: there was everything from sweet and savoury pastries to cheese, ham and salami. The problem was that the same products were served every single day.
- Lunch and dinner consisted mostly of international dishes, along with two or three Greek dishes, which were rather disappointing themselves. The biggest problem was that the food seemed to be "recycled". For example, there was corn salad at lunch, and in the evening the leftover corn could be found in some rather boring pasta. I even came across an aubergine salad that was spoiled, yet it had still been put out for guests to eat.
- I don't have much good to say about the desserts. They were downright awful. Essentially, it was the same heavy and unpleasant cream every day: if it wasn't served in little pastry baskets, it was served in glasses. Day after day, the same desserts, with an additional jelly either fruit-flavoured or milk-flavoured. 0 stars for this category.
- The fruit available was tasty, and the ice cream was acceptable, although I only had it once.
- The soft drink, water and coffee machines in the dining room were available to guests only during breakfast and lunch. At dinner, we were given bottles of water that had a strange, tap-water-like taste.
Overall, the hotel has several important advantages, especially its location, cleanliness and the general appearance of the property. Unfortunately, the all-inclusive experience left a lot to be desired, particularly when it came to the meals and desserts. For a four-star hotel, I expected more variety and, above all, better-quality food.
We had a lovely stay in this hotel! It is located in the center of Agios Nikolaos, close to the beach and many shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and and the food was amazing! We will definitely choose to stay in this hotel again when we come back to Crete.
