We had such a wonderful experience at the Maro Club. The staff were incredibly kind, caring, and full of positive energy. Our son absolutely loved spending time there every day and was always excited to go back. The childcare team does an amazing job making children feel welcome, safe, and entertained with so many fun activities.
You can really feel that the people working there enjoy what they do, and that makes a huge difference. For families with kids, this club is honestly a big highlight of the resort. Highly recommended for anyone traveling with children. Humanity occasionally gets things right. This is one of those rare cases.
Terrific hotel with stunning backdrop, will definitely return and recommend to friends/family. Close proximity to a variety of beaches is a real treat — 30 seconds walk at most. Food is fresh. Pools are great fun. Plenty of shade outside.
Service is first class. Kristjian the friendly server (Kiki) is a top man, memorised our group of 7’s orders off by heart. Made our stay.
Amazing place.
Our stay at Valamar Resort was unfortunately very disappointing.
The biggest issue was the buffet restaurant. It was by far the worst buffet experience we have ever had. Every meal felt like a challenge. First, finding a table was almost mission impossible, often taking up to 30 minutes. Then, getting warm dishes meant waiting in long queues for another 30 minutes. Instead of enjoying dinner together as a family, we spent most of our time searching for a table or standing in line for food.
To make things worse, if the whole family got up to get food at the same time, there was a real risk that the staff would clear the table and other guests will seat
before we returned. Family dinner time became stressful rather than enjoyable.
The room was generally fine, although we experienced a few technical issues that were reported but never resolved.
The beach and pool facilities were another disappointment. Considering the price we paid per night, sunbeds on the beach should be included free of charge for hotel guests. At the pool, it was almost impossible to find available sunbeds because many guests reserved them with towels for hours while spending most of their time at the beach. This should not be allowed and needs to be monitored much more closely by the hotel staff.
Overall, we expected a much better experience for the price. While the resort has potential, the poor organization of the buffet restaurant and the lack of management of the sunbeds had a significant negative impact on our holiday.
The rooms and location were honestly really nice. I came here with my school all the way from Belgium for our year-end trip. We had good rooms, not going to argue with that.
However, I’m someone who is very sensitive to the cold, so I prefer it to be warm inside. Unfortunately, the heating system didn’t work. I went to the lobby to ask about it because only cold air was coming out. For three days, it still wasn’t fixed, even though I kept going back and politely asking if someone could take a look at it.
We literally got sick because of the cold, which made the situation even more frustrating. Until the day we left, nothing had been resolved. Honestly, for a 4-star hotel, I find this very poor service.
It shouldn’t matter that we’re a school group from another country we paid for our stay and deserve to be treated the same as any other guests. I don’t know if that was the case, but that’s how it felt.
It’s just really disappointing that nothing was done and that we had to go back home feeling sick with stuffed nose and itchy throat.
Great staff. Great childcare. Good food. Useful app. Poor drinks, visible lack of upkeep and disappointing value for money prevent a higher rating.
We spent a week at Valamar Tamaris in a Family Junior Suite. For context, hotels are not exactly an exotic experience for us. Between regular business travel and our family's annual summer and winter holidays, we spend enough time in 4-star and 5-star accommodation to have a fairly realistic benchmark for what different price categories should deliver.
The positives first: staff throughout the resort were excellent. Reception, housekeeping, restaurant personnel and especially the Super Maro Club team (specifically Milica and Matheus) were friendly, extremely motivated and professional.
The Valamar App is genuinely useful and one of the better hotel apps I've used, with excellent activity schedules and practical guest information.
Food quality at breakfast, lunch and dinner was really very good. The buffet chefs deserve recognition, as does the restaurant team, who somehow manage to keep the buffet area running smoothly despite the daily invasion of hungry holidaymakers. The takeaway lunch package for departure day is another excellent idea and particularly useful for families travelling home by car.
Unfortunately, drinks and accommodation are where this resort loses points.
For a 4-star all-inclusive resort at this price level, I expect recognizable beverage brands. Instead, virtually everything included comes from dispensers: soft drinks, juices, cocktails and coffee. The quality is poor. The orange soda tasted more like sweetened sparkling water than a recognizable soft drink. A Mojito was barely identifiable as a Mojito. Even good coffee requires an extra charge at the bar. Ironically, the simple black filter coffee available at breakfast turned out to be far better than the machine coffee after we finally discovered it near the end of the holiday.
The second issue is maintenance. Room 207, the pool area and the public changing rooms showed a consistent pattern of deferred upkeep: torn upholstery, damaged corners, ageing sealants, stained mirrors, missing light covers and visible patch repairs around the pools. Nothing dramatic individually, but together they create the impression that refurbishment has been postponed for quite some time.
The "all-inclusive" concept also feels stretched. Many activities, beach sunbeds and several family attractions cost extra even though technically correct mentioned in the T&C s. Those costs add up surprisingly quickly for a family of four and takes away quite a lot of the "all-inclusive" marketing.
Our children had a fantastic holiday. We had an okay holiday.
The staff are operating at a level that could support a genuinely excellent resort. If the drinks, accommodation upkeep and value proposition matched the quality of the employees and childcare programme, this place could easily be close to perfect.
As it stands, the value for money simply isn't there. This is the first family holiday since having children where returning is not under consideration.
