We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were excellent. The location is perfect, with easy access to the beach and beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. The food was varied and tasty, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and family-friendly. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.
We arrived at Playaballena as a family of four—two slightly overworked parents and two boys already buzzing with holiday energy—and from the very first step into the lobby, something felt different. Not the usual “check-in and go” routine, but a genuine sense that we were expected… and welcomed. We initially settled into **room 3045**, which was already comfortable, bright, and more than suitable for a family stay. But like many guests, we couldn’t help but wonder about the suites—especially after catching glimpses of those sea-facing balconies. So, we casually enquired at reception about a possible upgrade. What followed was something that perfectly captures the spirit of this hotel. Rather than a quick “yes” or “no,” the reception team—**Fermin, Miguel, Jesus, Manuel, Daria, Tamara, Bibiana, and Javier**—took genuine interest in our request. Over the next couple of days, they kept us personally updated on availability, always with a smile, always making us feel like it mattered. It never felt like a transaction; it felt like they were rooting for us. And then it happened. We were offered the opportunity to move into **Suite 3054**, (one of two suites on the top floor in this hotel) and it truly felt like winning something special. Opening the door to that room was unforgettable. The space, the light, and above all, the **fantastic sea view**—it instantly transformed our stay. Mornings began with the horizon glowing softly, evenings closed with the sound of the ocean drifting in. It wasn’t just an upgrade in room category—it was an upgrade in how the whole holiday felt. The additional surprise was a bootle of CAVA in a bucket of ice and cookies, a form of a gift from the hotel for upgrading to the suite. But what truly elevated this experience wasn’t just the room, the pools, or even the perfect weather—it was the people. The reception team deserves something beyond a standard thank you. They didn’t just handle our request—they made it part of our story. There’s a rare kind of hospitality where you feel seen, not processed. They remembered us, spoke to our children like they mattered, and somehow balanced professionalism with warmth so naturally that it never felt rehearsed. We weren’t just guests—we were treated like **VIPs without the stiffness that usually comes with it**. Every question was answered with care, every update about the suite was delivered with genuine enthusiasm, and every interaction left us smiling. And that feeling extended far beyond the front desk. There’s a quiet army behind any great hotel—the people you don’t always see, but whose work shapes your entire experience. The cooks who start before sunrise, preparing breakfasts that fuel long days by the pool. The kitchen teams who somehow keep up with the rhythm of hundreds of guests while still delivering meals that feel thoughtful. The cleaners who reset your room so perfectly each day that it feels like returning to a fresh beginning. The maintenance staff, the gardeners, the servers moving tirelessly under the Andalusian sun—all of them part of something bigger than just a hotel operation. What struck us most was that nothing felt mechanical. There was pride in the way things were done. Care in the details. A sense that everyone—from the visible to the invisible—was contributing to a shared goal: making people feel good. Our boys, who are usually impossible to impress for more than five minutes, were completely absorbed—between the pools, the slides, and the open space to just be kids. And as parents, that gave us something rare: the ability to truly relax without compromise. By the end of the stay, we realised something quietly important. We didn’t just enjoy the hotel—we felt **looked after**. And that’s a different kind of memory altogether. Playaballena Spa Hotel didn’t just give us a holiday. It gave us a feeling we’ll be talking about long after the suitcases are unpacked.
Great Hotel. I stayed for 10 days in January, weather was poor but that's not the hotels fault! The food was excellent, very varied and a good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables
Very welcoming and good location as the beach is just 50yards from the hotel. The staff are always helpful. Not much in the hotel shop so 10-15min walk to the nearest supermarket. Pool area is really stunning and relaxing.
I spent a weekend in April at this hotel and my experience was truly exceptional from start to finish. The room was spotlessly clean, very spacious, and fully equipped with everything I needed to feel comfortable and relaxed. The hotel’s location is perfect — just a short walk from the beach — which allowed me to enjoy peaceful seaside strolls in addition to the fantastic on-site facilities. The pools were beautiful and well-maintained, and the spa was a real highlight — incredibly relaxing and professionally run. The buffet exceeded my expectations, offering a wide variety of delicious, high-quality food options to suit all tastes. What really stood out, though, was the staff: every single member of the team was kind, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole stay feel warm and personal. I felt truly cared for throughout my time there. I can’t recommend this hotel enough, and I’ll definitely be returning — hopefully very soon!
