Beautiful views and family-friendly atmosphere!
We stayed here with our two children, and the hotel turned out to be very peaceful, atmospheric, and absolutely perfect for families. The location of Sunrise Village Beach is stunning, and the views are breathtaking. It is also located close to the charming town of Petalidi (taxi cost €6), which is definitely worth a visit. While the hotel itself has some minor flaws, the food is really good.
However, what truly made our stay unforgettable was Eleftheria at the front desk. She is incredibly helpful, patient, and understanding—she genuinely deserves a bonus or a raise! I personally witnessed her handling some rather rude guests, and I was amazed by her ability to stay perfectly calm and polite throughout the whole situation. She helped us when we really needed it. Employees like her build the hotel's good reputation and make you want to come back. Thank you, Eleftheria!
We have been coming to Greece for the past 13 years and have visited most of the islands several times, but this was our first visit. We enjoyed it so much that we're staying for another two weeks on a different side of the island in an Airbnb after this holiday.
This was only the second time we've booked an all-inclusive package with Jet2 Holidays. With our 18-month-old toddler, it was simply the easiest option. Normally, we prefer exploring the local area and discovering new places, and we'll slowly be getting back to that style of travelling.
Now, about the hotel...
The hotel is beautiful and very spacious. You can see that the owners are continuously investing in improvements and renovations, which is great to see.
Pros:
The staff are wonderful, friendly, and always willing to help. Many of them are students from different countries working here over the summer until September, and they all do their best to make your stay enjoyable.
A special thank you to Maria and Dario, who were both exceptional throughout our stay. We'd also like to thank the housekeeping team, who cleaned our room every day and kept everything spotless.
The hotel has two swimming pools, although we personally preferred spending our time at the beach as we love swimming in the sea.
There are two bars, and the food offers an excellent variety throughout the day. There was always something different to choose from, and we never struggled to find something we enjoyed.
We accidentally forgot our travel adapter, and one of the lovely ladies from the team went out of her way to help us find one. It was a small gesture that made a big difference, and we really appreciated it.
Cons:
The hot water was very hot throughout the day, which made bathing our toddler a little challenging.
The toddler play area could be improved. It would be nice to have more activities for young children, especially during the afternoon when you want a break from the beach or pool.
The quality coffee was only available at breakfast, and the fresh apple and orange juice was also limited to the morning. During the rest of the day, only fizzy drinks were available, alongside plenty of alcoholic beverages. It would be great if good coffee and fresh juice were available throughout the day, especially for families with young children.
Overall, we had a lovely week and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel isn't perfect, but the fantastic staff, good food, beautiful setting, and genuine effort to improve the property made for a very enjoyable family holiday. We'd happily recommend it to anyone
It is a very nice resort - 40 min from Kalamata. Friendly team, nice pool and open grounds. Decent food quality. The room is from the 80s with limited WiFi and old look and feel. Reaching the beach takes some effort
This is a really lovely hotel, much better than other higher rated hotels I've stayed in.
Our room was spacious, with plenty of storage and a big bathroom. The ground floor patio didn't have the best outlook, but it was ok. We had a couple of problems with the shower head, but they were fixed immediately.
The pool area is what makes this hotel. The sunbeds are stepped on grassed areas around the pool with plenty of comfortable sunbeds. The pool bar is great, and the service first class.
The restaurant was typical of a Greek hotel, great breakfast choice, plenty of delicious salads and a good selection of mains for lunch and dinner, although some could have been a bit warmer.
Maybe not a great choice for kids, but plenty of pizza and a waffle maker.
The entertainment was OK, the French girls worked really hard to engage everyone, but had an uphill struggle.
The hotel was always very clean, the litter left by residents was quickly cleared away.
The only downside, was the location. We like to get out and explore the local area, but there was very little nearby. The local village, Petalidi, was not really walkable, 3km partly along a busy road, although a taxi was only €6 each way. It's typically Greek and worth a visit, with a few supermarkets, gift shops, bars, and tavernas. Try Agra, very fresh food cooked to order and big portions.
Buses infrequent, but take you to Kalamata, visit the castle and cathedral, or down the coast to Koroni.
So if you want to just chill, and don't mind not having a lot of thigs to do nearby, this would be a perfect hotel.
Finally, maybe a kids room would be a good idea. Some visitors were quite happy to allow their kids to charge around the bar area at night with no consideration for others.
We'd read some awful reviews of this hotel, but decided to book anyway. My messages to anyone would be to ignore those and book, we had a great time.
I have changed my review ,as I just had a lovely dinner. Turkey with mash and pumpkin cooked with tomato. The staff work so hard and are friendly, I was overly harsh initially giving only one star, it is now a solid 3.
The location and views are beautiful, the ladies at reception and the entertainment crew are lovely. I love the salads and roast Turkey.
The hotel has clearly been neglected for many years and requires money being spent in order to get it upto a higher standard. But it has a kind of rustic charm and the views are just stunning. I wake up and watch the sun rise most mornings.
There's a part of me that has started to love the hotel and nearby town Petalidi.
Thank you everyone.
