This is already a very good hotel, and it's getting better as it's getting renovated. Staff was nice, food was varied and very good with lots of spanish/local options. We got one of the better rooms, family room on the corner with a huge terrace and great views. Renovations are still not finished, but it's mainly niceties, the facade on the back is old with some cracks, the downstairs pool is old with many tiles replaced with plaster, the glass bottom of the new upstairs pool looks onto unfinished construction works etc. The location is good, you can reach the Loro park train with a short walk, downtown and a mall is also near. The hotel is on a hill though so it can be challenging to walk with very small kids or disabled adults. Parking spaces are scarce but I always managed to find one at the hotel parking lot. Main thing I would improve besides finishing the renovations is the pool opening times, 11 for the kiddy pool is too late for opening, and it also closes too soon.
The hotel is very poorly maintained, the reception staff is very rude, inattentive. The room I received is very poorly positioned, although the hotel had enough rooms. Lack of parking space; in the evening it is a real adventure to find a parking space. The only professionals in the hotel are the restaurant staff, kind and with a smile on their faces. The food is very good and plentiful, only here they had a professional level.
This is a beautiful luxurious hotel. I booked the family room with a terrace. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and satisfying - there's so much variety. The hotel is up a big hill, keep this in mind if you have mobility issues.
SECOND REVIEW - 2 WEEKS 7-22 JULY 2026
NO WAY A 4 STAR ⭐ HOTEL. PERHAPS IN 4 YEARS AFTER THEY HAVE FINISHED THE INTERNAL RENOVATIONS.
I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY GUEST WHO FEELS LIKE THIS.
this was my second time returning to El Tope, this year for 2 weeks (10 days last year July 2025)
I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING TO THIS HOTEL AGAIN.
The experience was totally the opposite. they don't appear to appreciate or like return customers.
AT NO TIME WAS I INFORMED or GIVEN ANY PRIOR NOTICE.... I booked this last October 2025.
During the day... all morning and all afternoon there was nothing but neumatic drilling coming from the entire 4th floor because it's being renovated. The noise was unbelievable and the vibrations felt in the room unbearable. No relaxing in your room. There are men using climbing equipment on the outside of the building scraping off old paint which in turn falls on you on the dining room terrace and pool area.
THESE WORKS WILL BE CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE YEAR IRRESPECTIVE OF OFF SEASON ON HIGH SEASON DATES.
I found out by another holiday maker that she complained about her room and I found out she was given my originally booked room and I was given hers.
Do not accept a room on 6th floor, especially 600-614 because the top floor bar is directly above your ceiling and the sound of children running and jumping until at least 11.30pm is accepted and condoned. Reception and bar staff refused to do anything about this, so I was forced to address this myself with the families. Originally I thought it was a room above not the roof top bar. This caused me distress.
If you complain, the whole staff don't like you and the atmosphere is horrible to the extent I didn't want to even be in the hotel to eat.
If you are lucky enough to receive a welcome bottle in your room, you have to drink it by yourself in your room. I kept mine for the night of the world cup final 🏆 and was refused a glass to enjoy it along side the all inclusive couple I had luckily made friends with.
If you stay out in the town after 1-2am, (there were a lot official fiestas & world cup games ) don't think you'll get a taxi back from the town, at the designated taxi rank, because there aren't any. I had to get a Spanish girl to call the hotel for me who refused to send a taxi and instructed her to call a number and sort it out for me. As I have mobility issues I am unable to walk the steap walk back to El Tope. If you have mobility issues don't book here full stop. They simply don't care.
If you are unlucky enough to have a room
Beautiful hotel with amazing staff. Stayed here last year and we had a great time, the staff are also very kind and accommodating. It's also so convenient, as it's only a short downhill walk to restaurant chains and shops such as salons, supermarkets, etc. It's also very close to the beach. Would definitely recommend booking.
