We had previously stayed at this hotel two years ago for almost 20 nights and had a great experience, which is why we decided to return this year for another 17-night stay. Unfortunately, our second experience was very disappointing.
The main issue was the temperature in our suite, which remained constantly between 25°C and 26°C. For a family of five, sleeping in these conditions was very uncomfortable, to the point that we seriously considered cutting our holiday short and leaving the hotel.
Despite several discussions with the staff, technical interventions and proposals to change rooms, no satisfactory solution was found. The management even showed us on their own system that some rooms in lower categories were at 21°C or 22°C. However, following my complaint, I received an email stating that, according to current regulations, the temperature should not be set below 26°C and that this temperature in our room was therefore considered normal. This was difficult to understand, especially as we had experienced no temperature issues during our previous stay. This information was also not mentioned anywhere when we booked. Had we known, we would have chosen another hotel.
Reception also offered us the possibility of moving to a Ludia Suite for an additional charge. We accepted, but a few hours later we were told that the suite was no longer available because another reservation had been made in the meantime, even though we believed the room change had been confirmed.
The cleanliness and maintenance of our room also need improvement. We found mould in the bathroom and around the air-conditioning vent, as well as hair on the bed sheets. One evening, when we returned to our room around midnight, we even found that there were no bed sheets, pillowcases, towels or toilet paper.
Following our complaint, management offered us a late check-out even though we had already planned to leave the room at 11am, or a complimentary meal even though we were already staying on a half-board basis. We felt that these proposals did not really address the issues we had experienced during our 17-night stay.
The gym also needs refurbishment, as several machines were damaged, and the drinking water provided there was warm. We also noticed on several occasions that the swimming pool water was not clean.
Despite all of this, the staff are truly the hotel's greatest strength. The kitchen team, technicians, receptionists, especially the night team, waiters and particularly the entertainment team were professional, helpful and friendly. Our three children absolutely loved the entertainers, who were fantastic! They were the main reason we decided to stay until the end of our holiday. However, we felt that the activities offered were more varied during our previous stay. The food was also good.
It is a real shame because this hotel has many positive aspects and some excellent staff. We returned with great enthusiasm, but this time we noticed a real difference in the management and overall maintenance of the property.
It is unfortunate that the management has changed since our previous stay. Despite all the positive aspects of the staff, after this experience, we unfortunately do not feel like returning.
Lovely clean room with awesome air-con. Staff were helpful and kind. Mojacar playa is a short walk away, but we always caught a bus back due to the steep incline going that way. I had no complaints with the buffet food, aside from it often not being piping hot, but there was a big selection and something for everyone. This hotel would best suit those with young kids.
We stayed during May half term break as a family of 5. The location of the hotel is great. Beautiful views to the sea from the balcony, walking distance to the beach and shops/restaurants.
The pool is decent size and kids loved the slides. The water was a little cold but we got used to it quickly. When the hotel got more busy we preferred going down to the beach as the pool was quite full.
The staff were very friendly and most of them spoke English. Rooms were clean, slightly small but we managed. The food in the restaurant was alright, not a lot of choice but we all managed to find something we liked.
I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel and in Mojacar.
Perfect place for families with children, and those who like having fun.
The nicest people / staff ever!!!!
Just returned from a two week stay at this hotel. We were made to feel welcome & the staff were great, newly renovated with nice rooms & a great view on the 7th floor, we were lucky to have these views for two weeks. Some of the plus parts of the hotel were good air con, WiFi, good spacious showers, good water slides for the adults & children & a jacuzzi, also it was extremely easy to get a sunbed daily rather which was refreshing.
Sadly there was no iron or kettle provided & the hotel wanted to charge €50+ euros to use the safe for two weeks which we think is unreasonable. There were also a lot of wasps / flys around the hotel which became extremely annoying after a while (obviously not the hotels fault)
The hotel is mainly Spanish holidaymakers, this made it quite difficult for my daughter to make any friends on holiday due to the language barrier & there were very few english families so unfortunately she started to become bored very quickly, luckily we made our own entertainment. Also, the night entertainment was mainly in spanish so it was difficult to get involved as we didn't know what was going on.
Mojacar is a beautiful town with amazing views & beaches. We were half board plus so the fact you could have unlimited soft drinks / alcohol with lunch & dinner was a nice touch but the food in the hotel was very repetitive, often cold & quite bland, therefore we decided to eat out every other night to try keep it interesting. A few restaurants to visit - sensations do a 3 course menu for only €20 & the food was amazing, titos beach bar, la cantina, cheers restaurant, martin morales, aurora cafe (opposite parque commercial do a lovely breakfast & coffee) & finally whatever you do, book a table at la murella in the old town for a sunset meal, amazing views & finished off our holidays beautifully & very reasonably priced.
The taxis were super expensive & we felt we were ripped off being British holiday makers being charged €15 for a 2 min taxi ride which the hotel booked for us, we were also asked to share this taxi with other guests from the hotel. My advice would be just use the buses which is right outside the hotel on the other side of the road, super cheap & easy to use, also goes to the old town & back. Definitely pay a visit to the old town through the day & at night, beautiful place & a must see.
Sadly the hotel is at the end of the strip, so if you want to venture out you will need to use transport to get out & about to the restaurants further out etc. There are supermarkets near the beach & about a 6 minute walk from the hotel
It didn't feel like there was a great deal to do or see in Mojacar unlike other places we have been. The town itself though does have stunning views, lovely restaurants, beaches & beach bars. We are really glad we visited this lovely place, but I don't think we would return.
