It was a last-minute deal find. The price was brilliant. I didn't expect the service and the rooms to be that good (compared to many other places in Riga). The hotel looks a bit old from the outside but inside is refurbished well. It could improve by putting a kettle in the rooms as well.
I could not find any other hotel near the city center for the dates I stayed, so I chose this hotel. Some kind of old fashion and partly renowated hotel. The room has one person bed, a table and chair, a private bathroom and nothing more (no AC, no refrigerator). When I entered the room I smell some mould and dust, so I opened the window to ventilate. I stayed three night and had no much expects, but at my last night, a very noisy siren sounded couple of times, in the middle of the heavy rained night. I was sleeping and waked up with highly stressed. Also, I should noted that, there were no sounds from the street, but when raining starts, it is impossible to sleep with the noises of dripping of the rain on the metalic window panel. The location of the hotel not good/not bad, so so, you can walk the central old city parts 10-20 min., but the central train station and bus coach need more than 15 minutes walking. There is a big supermarket near the hotel. I give 3-stars (because of reasonably price), but I would not stay again.
I have to say I can't really understand the positive reviews here based on my own stay. I'm not usually a picky guest, but this one was rough.
To be fair, the location really is excellent — very close to both the train station and the bus station. Honestly, the location is the only thing that justifies the price.
It's true that many rooms face the street (mine included), but that didn't bother me much.
The furnishings, however, are quite dated, and the bed creaked with every movement. The bathroom was a real letdown — the shower cabin had visible mold.
Staff were also on the brusque side.
I can't comment on the restaurant, as it was under renovation during my stay.
Overall, a stark contrast to other hotels I've stayed at in the Baltics. I honestly have no idea how this place earned three stars.
the hotel is pretty fine for its price. overall has grand Budapest movie vibes, really beautiful hallways. the rooms are fine and the staff is pretty welcoming.
The worst hotel experience in my life so far! Our room door looks like someone have tried to break. Fire alarm rang few times in the night with no reasons while it was storming outside, that was scary! Well, special experience but wouldnt stay here again.
Plus: night shift staffs are friendly, i have to say. 5 stars for them⭐️
